I've grown to like O'hearn's lies, he gives you a little truth with the lie mixed in. For instance he did have a very good competition Powerlifting total in the mid 1700's, and won some things. But it was in a smaller fed, in one of the big ones, he'd be maybe a top 100 guy back then.

Also, he bragged on having a Martial Arts Lifetime Achievement award, and that's true, but it isn't for fighting, it's for humanitarian work -

.

The humanitarian work? Stuff like this -

.

He visited those kids like once, and used the pics for a decade.

--------------------------------------

Another one I don't like from the Powerlifting world is that Bell invented the Slingshot? He only invented it because he patented it. The history of those things is more like this - Bench shirts were expensive $150-300, hard to get into, and prone to ripping. So guy's would take old ones and cut them down to get more use out of them. Guys like Chris Taylor cleaned up the design with his "Bench Strap", but he never gave them much though, it was just something he'd do for friends -

.

Bell came later.

Got to give it to Mike.

Thx for the video, I tried to find that a while back, as a buddy didnt believe me about the Slingshot.
I remember seeing the video many years ago.

Bell is smart for trademark and patenting the thing, where Taylor "snoozed and losed"...

Bell is now a multi-millionaire from that darn thing..

I remember Vic making the 30,000 calories claim then walking it back to "only" 8-12K calories.  Anyone else remember it that way?

Richards claimed that MMI writer, Greg Zulak, misquoted him. Richards cited himself as saying that's the most he'd ever eaten in a single day, not that was 30K was his typical daily caloric consumption.

Ronny C. won the Universe natty.

Arnold only used steroids a little.

Joe Weider about anything.

Define "a little". Today, people would claim the amount of anabolics Schwarzenegger used was a little. But, his predecessors (i.e. Vince Gironda, John Grimek, etc.) screamed that the Oak and his contemporaries were steroid abusers, taking a whole bunch of stuff.

As for Coleman, his contemporaries have backed his claims for decades. Guys like Levrone and Wheeler were amazed that Coleman wasn't using what they were, yet he was still hanging with them. Shawn Ray referred to the pre-Sandow Coleman as a "C-level" bodybuilder.

I've brought up this issue earlier on another thread. But, if pro cards were so hard to obtain in the late 80s/early 90s and drug tests are so easy to pass, why didn't more NPC journeymen tried to get to the Universe to turn pro?

I know that, from a media standpoint, winning the USA or the Nationals (or even the North American) got you more covers and more spots on shows like "American Muscle" than winning the IFBB Mr. Universe/World Amateur Championships did. But, if you'd been slogging in the NPCs for a while (i.e. Bob Chicherillo), why not simply "go off" for a while and try your hand at the U, especially when it came with an Olympia bid at the time?

Let’s also keep this in mind:

Victor Richards faked his own death

Also, Victor tried to down-play Ronnie’s greatness (Victor was a afraid to compete in the NPC and the IFBB. Never competed once in either organization. Meanwhile, Ronnie dominated the sport)

Victor Richards almost got his ass kicked by Mike Christian at Gold’s Gym. Then years later, Victor claimed that Mike Christian was afraid of him 😂

What a twat.  Let me guess, Vic considers himself number 1, right?  Did he list who he thought was better than Ronnie?

This is coming from the guy who reportedly smashed his trophy and threw a fit, after he lost at an amateur show to Rich Gaspari?

His fear of losing to smaller bodybuilders in better shape and condition is why he never stepped on a pro stage, after winning the 92 Nigerian national title (which I never recalled before or since being a pro qualifying show).

Valentino claimed he never used synthol, but something else? I mean, his arms are full of some shit, but not necessarily synthol.

Valentino said he was injecting a 10ml vile a day into his biceps. Reckons it was just the sheer amount of oil.

The usual oil clears out quickly so whatever he injected the oil was long lasting like synthol. he might have added longer lasting oil like synthol in his gear and shoved it in. Technically not synthol but the same effect.

Technically it's probably Ron Harris. He must have ghost written thousands of articles with added fluff to make them more interesting.

As a teenager I actually thought the bodybuilders wrote their own training articles. I was amazed at their intelligence and ability to write. ;D

I don't think you could do this, didn't you need to win the Nationals first to qualify for a Universe Spot?  To win the Nationals from non-USA country you'd need some kind of connection like Victor Richards claimed for Nigeria
