I never wore a mask except at hospital because I couldn't see a doc without one, or even enter the building. Well actually I could take it off once with a doc one on one, the docs wore visors lol.
I read that the Chinese were very effective in stomping out the virus, best in the world? They of course implemented very strict measures immediately. Asians are also very conformist and will do what they are told. Later with the weaker "variants" they let them rip through the population freely. First people here wearing masks were Asians, they saw what they did in China and immediately did the same here, even before any prompting. I think Sweden was one of the few countries in the EU at least who didn't make it law to wear masks in public and I think we did good overall? So I was kind of proud of Sweden then.
Did masks hurt or help in any way? I've seen some experts say it's almost impossible to verify if it helped through studies for several reasons.
