The Bruce Lee vid shows his incredible speed. I can't comment on the accuracy of his depiction of those styles.

I wonder if his clothes were specially made to allow such flexible movements?

Chuck Norris had special pants with elastic in them to allow high kicks.

That Hackenschmidt vid...at 7:46 Hack should have been on his toes to put more weight on the opponent and finish the pin.

I´ve no idea but some of his suits looked very tight fitting so yes they could have been specially made for him ( stretch material )

I think you should wear normal everyday clothes that are restrictive to practice self-defense.

Practice while wearing jeans for example.

Most normal pants do not allow higher kicks.

Are you going to walk around in a gi normally?

Also you will most likely be wearing shoes.

Practice techniques that work while wearing everyday clothes.

This is how Wing Tsun sparring was when i first trained in `94.. The First group i trained in only used gloves no other protection.

they have better equipment nowadays. The white gloves at the top were standard in the 80´s & 90´s . when serious sparring was done a head guard was used like for boxing sparring.
