nice topic, and typically I don't get on here to post anything that isn't somehow constgructive...but some of you guys are idiots.

Peter McGough knows more about BB then any of you ever will, but instead of treating him with respect for what he has done for this industry, you make stupid comments about him and another well respected industry writer. I wonder why it is that so many of us industry people find many of the people that post here immature and not worth our time.

Everyone has different tastes as far as the magazines go, and that's why they have the freedom to choose which one they want on the newsstand, each has a different approach at how to view BB, and each has a different fan base. This whole FLEX vs MD battle is such a load of crap.

I can't speak for MD, but FLEX doesn't blast the internet boards in our pages, and in fact, in some ways we find that there are things to be learned from many of the posters on this and other sites. We want to know what the fans are thinking. It is only when things degenerate into baseless name calling of each other and people in the industry that you've never met that we wonder why we would even bother.

You have it at the point now where Jay Cutler is willing to post here (among other pros)...why don't you not try to screw it up with crap like this, and maybe more pros and other people in the sport will start to become more accessible. (I'm sure some of you will just say you don't want the mags here anyway, but you should realize that the majority of the mag staffs are BB fans also).

This thread was just too much.

Agree 100 %. Peter was/is definitely the best writer in Flex. His sense of humour and his writing skills are incredible. All the assholes here who do nothing apart from bashing bodybuilding and bodybuilders can learn a thing or 2 from Peter on how to be funny about bodybuilding without being a jerkoff. Peter's contest reports are easily the best ones there is - makes you feel like you are watching the show yourself. The current writers like Shawn pernie or Greg merritt are just 3rd rate compared to Peter. The only other guy whose writing I liked was John Little. Julian Schmidt is just way over the top IMO.

Funny but Shawn Ray and King have been battling for some time now and king stated that he has never really even talked to Shawn...And King battling with people have made him quite abit of money...So my point is if guys "in the industry" are doing the same thing as guys on the net are doing, I don't see a problem with the "as you called it" baseless attacks :-\

I have been on some other boards...just have to be in the mood to take some crap on this one.

Couldn't sit around and have stupid shit said about PM though.

You seem overly positive lately...turned over a new leaf? LOL

I'm always this positive in real life.  I have a baby on the way!!!

On the boards, I have to turn on the negativity sometimes to press enough buttons to elicit some true colors from people.  Once you have a Bob Chick or Shawn Ray using emotion instead of intellect, you find out what they're really about pretty quickly.

Many midwives say the diet of the mother has a great effect on the gender of the baby.  Pasta/Milk = boy, and citrus foods = girl.  I don't know if it's true.  Guess we'll find out.

There is a reason Peter McGough has risen to the level where he is at, because he is very good at what he does. Great writer, understands bodybuilding, tries to keep it in a sense of respect, and really wants to see bodybuilding grow. He cares about it!

As for John Romano, he also is a very good writer, but there is a difference between the two. John loves to attack, speaks his mind on whatever he wants, and pisses off some people. He did write about Peter (and not nicely either), and other topics, which provoked emotions. That is his style, nothing wrong with it - gives for great discussion on message boards.

John is no longer with Bethany, he is back with his ex-wife, and son, and that is great for him. But I can come up to John, and ask him anything I want, no matter what the topic is, and I can't faze him. He loves the discussions here, just not the utterly baseless attacks.

That is true - Flex does not bash the internet boards, but also rarely acknowledges them (or Getbig), but MD will agree that the boards and the internet sites are a influence in disucssion, whether good or bad. And sometimes they absolutely get out of hand, in case, the Time Out Area, and being banned.

And yes - you don't have to look like a bodybuilder to be a fan. I can't beleive some of you think that? Have you ever been to an expo? At least 70-80% are the people are normall people who enjoy the sports. Jeez - how many people who like basketball play it, or baseball, or football. Get with the program and contribute.

Well you would think that guys are watching bodybuilders for inspiration to train, unless it's for a sexual reason, I don't understand why someone would be a fan and not work out.

Funny. I know quite a number of people who are fans, who don't work out. Perhaps because they like to see pleasing physique and the monster masses which, for many, are not attainable. Perhaps because one day they would like to be able to at least attain a fraction of what these pros of done. Perhaps because it gives them the inspiration to get to the gym one day, and train. Perhaps because you sometimes need the motivation. Perhaps because one day they trained and stopped.

Why would someone be a fan of football and not play? Or Soccer? Or Hockey?

Jeez, the more I hear about thie John Romano guy, the more I think he and I have a lot in common.

I also find Bethany oddly attractive.  Any girl who can speak 7 languages and can do a full split while reciting the table of periodic elements is hot in my book!

Well I thought you were talking about guys that never have trained or had any desire to be muscular themselves.

The same reason there are basketball fans who don't play basketball or football fans who dont play football.

Yeah, romano posted as dirk last month.  Said something about peter writing on a 4th grde level.

Which was funny, cause we all know FLEX writes for the 2nd grade level.

Ron gave me that title...obviously I work at FLEX, and it was a choice between Special Guest and Expert, which people would have ragged on for only having a few posts and being listed as expert.

Awesome question.  Ron, what is the criteria for 'special guest'.   They get to read the VIP board, so it is quite an honor.

Given your involvement with the industry, why are you not a special guest? :-\
