My thoughts on TwinLab:
DualTabs was the first multi-vitamin I ever bought back in the late 90’s and I remember using it consistently for about 3-4 years. Without a doubt their original Ripped Fuel was their meal ticket. Last summer a buddy of mine was cleaning out his garage and found a bottle of it still with 6 capsules in it. Expiration date was 2002 so he estimated he bought it in 99-2000. The capsules were hard and black but overall well preserved. Sent me a pic with 3 of them in his hand and asked me if I wanted them. A couple days later I stop over and he hands me the bottle still had that old musky pepper smell that ma haung ephedra had. It’s unmistakable. I took two caps. 30 minutes later Blammo! I felt amazing. It kicked in no delayed fuse it was great. I felt awake, alive, alert and it put me in a euphoric mood. Still have the other capsule in a cabinet at home. Now for nostalgic purposes.
Also. I believe TwinLab made a protein powder with 25mg of M1T per serving. Around 2003, maybe. Silver label. It may have been called Andro Fuel or Andro Whey. Who the hell puts 25mg of a 1 Test compound fused with whey isolate? TwinLab was a big company at one point. As seen in the drug store scene in Natural Born Killers.
Listening to Jumbo and Blowmano wax about MD was a trip down memory lane. I, too was once a rebel fighter on this forum during those days of the wars between here, MD and Mayhem. Getting the latest issue of MD circa 2001-2007 was special. The magazine had an element that other magazines didn’t have. It was raw and gritty and a little sexual. Dave and John did make the magazine back then. Let’s face it when they got fired and Robbie Durand took over we all lost interest. Nothing was ever the same. After a while Gluteman went off the deep end. Stories of he refusing to pay toadies such as Ron Harris and various photographers and getting industry lackeys to work for free began to circulate making them the butt of a lot of jokes in the bodybuilding circles. People became more and more accessible. Questions were being asked. I’m pretty sure Mike Liberatore told me he never seen a penny from MD when he had his Q&A for a year around 2008 and he was promised $500/month.
I remember Special Ed and I had a bitch of a time getting the money we were promised for expo coverage one year. Over time Gluteman got exposed over and over again for shady business practices and once the toothpaste is out of the tube you can’t put it back in. It’s sad in a sense. MD was once an institution. All things come to an end. Nothing gold can stay.
