Most people have better uses for their money than home espresso setups so it kinda makes sense they're impressed when they get something fresh ground, and they go back for more.
I can only guess why coffee culture got conquered by leftists. It's big in Seattle and lot of manufacturers headquarter there. Leftists are city folk so city businesses gear to them. Also they tend to have money and pursue epicurean indulgences.
The right wing finds virtue in rejecting "fancy-pants" stuff so with coffee, just like with so much else, they ceded the field without a fight for a long time and retreated into cartoonish conservatism. "A cup 'a joe from the gas station was good enough for my grandpappy!" Yeah but that's because no one ever handed the guy a good one. He would have said fuck that 7-11 shit. And there's nothing new or la-de-da about good coffee. Everyone in America just got so sold by the Mr. Coffee and fucking Maxwell House marketing that they think it's what coffee is supposed to be.
You wouldn't say it's faggy to talk about what makes a good cigar or a good whisky so don't let a bunch of bluehairs take over good coffee. Ditch the Mr Coffee and the pre-ground stuff. Buy a cheap grinder (conical, not blade), whole beans with a roasting date on the bag from a guy who doesn't have a lisp, and a plunger press. It's a cheap setup and you'll have awesome unfrothy man-style coffee to pour into your Fuck Socialism mug.
