BINGO!!!!! Someone with hard core experience telling it like it is. Be careful Joe...now you are going to be labeled a HATER
Joe, you've personally suffered on a prep....your pics blow Brian out of the water. You've coached a lot of fighters with weight cuts. You know the ones who will stay the course and get the job done. Again, you have personal experience with it. I am sure you would agree that the ones who say that "can't" are really the ones who are saying "that's too tough for me to do".
I liken Brian to that kid many years ago on TUF who couldn't handle the sauna/weight cut and got kicked off the show. Mentally weak.
Thats exactly it! Real fighters that fight for a living at a high level are in a different world, a different mindset, another level. For as many corners Ive been in over the years I still think to myself that you have to have a fucking screw loose to be doing this and the fight was the easy part. The preps are brutal and even worse when you're trying to make a cut. These guys are usually training 3-4x a DAY. You just don't want to carry a lot of muscle when you're a fighter, muscle takes way too much oxygen and you wind up gassing early.
People make fun of guys like Fedor, Fury and even Roy Nelson. Even though they don't carry a ton of muscle these are big, strong and VERY well conditioned mothers**kers. The same can be said for most professional strongmen. Speaking of which, in 2017 I helped prep a fighter for a fight in Poland against Pudzianowski. Even thought Pudz was big and of course still strong, he still downsized quite a bit to be better conditioned. The fight went to decision to Pudz but when a black Brazilian/American fights in Poland the only way to win is by KO. lol
Point being, BRIAN, Krank is 100% correct on mindset and of course discipline. I don't think you have it otherwise you wouldn't have said "I can't make 185"
