My biggest gripe is the interfaces are bad and getting worse, especially Amazon, always trying to push you into shows and making it hard to find stuff without searching by name for it. Terrible algorithms and unnecessarily complicated because they are trying to push their promoted crap.
Yeah it's crazy how 2nd rate it is. Word on the street is creative people want nothing to do with them, because they try to run the entertainment business like it's a tech start up.
One of the red flags for me, was when I heard it was a mandate that everything they make must look good on a smart phone.
Imagine virtually any high end director trying to work with that constraint.
Everything they make is excessive in blues/ and is framed so that it looks like a cartoon.
EDIT:
They also rely on converting books into screen for most of their content, so they force the writers to take existing books and more or less use a computer program to smash together a good story with corporate mandated agendas, to please wokesters.
Streaming services got a kick start using viral marketing tactics. Marketing firms looked like tech gurus because they knew how to irritate people on social media and get attention. They cited "advanced analytics" etc constantly when in reality half of it was just howard stern shock jock crap.
15 years later these marketing knobs run these companies and still think they struck paydirt with analytics. Meanwhile these productions feel more and more like eating plastic.
