Given that I am one of the more affluent get biggers, I have the following streaming services, as me and Rory have very diverse tastes.

Netflix
Amazon prime
Peacock
Paramount
HBO Max
Disney+, to include Hulu and ESPN
Shudder
Sling

Free ones I have:

Tubi
Plex

I have all that and it costs too much.  HBO Max and Amazon are also slowly phasing in commercials. You can avoid this of course by paying extra. When Netflix starts doing this it's over. I remember when cable started the big selling point was no commercials.  Then they brought in some for certain channels. Then they said fuck it. Commercials on all shows. These steaming movies services are heading in that directions.

Precisely what Now TV did. Like you said, they want more money for the added luxury of not watching black actors advertising A,B,C every 10 minutes.

I moved on long ago.  I just use the internet and Netflix.

No interest in Netflix’s “Original” woke programming.

Seems like the streaming services are going with the same failing business model as the cable companies, giving you 500 channels when you only want five.

Same here, and i rarely watch my big tv in the living room.

99% of the time i just watch something through my PC in the office, since i spend most of my time there anyway.

The TV is a good transition from the computer as it's way less concentration needed, and then I finish off with a book for the last 45 minutes before sleep. I seem to need way more alertness when watching through my laptop.

HD antennae are cheap and solve this problem.

YT TV also gives local news.

Are they pretty good picture? How do they look? Personally I couldn’t give a fck, but I’m married to a interior decorator (not really - she’s an exec but you’d think she’s got our home in Southern Living)

I’m ashamed to say that I have pretty much the same. I am a dork and like the Star Wars universe shit so Disney + , and as soon as I got Hulu instead of Apple or YT - they started playing shit we want to watch. I probably watch too fckn much tv. But honestly I find Tubi to be my go to.
I’m a fan of old movies and Tubi has a seemingly unlimited supply.

In fact - could we start a thread of shows / movies that people have found on Tubi?

I need to look into it. I think I’ll definitely do it at our fishing camp. If it works out there I’ll do at home.

Can you get local news and cable news?

Why the hell are you watching news?

Look around we'll tell you if there's something you need to know.

Rory and I split the services. I don’t pay for all of it.

Our relationship is based on collaboration, sharing and trust.

Rory adores Disney movies. He’s so silly and playful.

I prefer horror.

Either way, it’s still cheaper than cable.

I have the attention span of a child, so i like to watch things in 20-30 minute segments. Then go do something around the house or read something. Takes me all night to watch one show. ;D

Sitting down and watching a movie or TV for 2 hours is nearly impossible. I'm a bit hyper active.

So, i found that i'll watch segments in between working and reading Getbig or something else online. Right now, i'm on a kick of watching YT videos of offroad/overlanding videos. I just got a new vehicle so preparing to mod it so we can go on long treks across Colorado/Utah, etc.

It's been 10 years for me. When I see "regular" TV at people's houses I wonder if they actually know how programmed they are.

I’m amazed that anyone still watches regular network tv. The last show I watched first run was Seinfeld.😂

Watch Alfred Hitchcock presents on Tubi.  The guy was nominated for 47 Academy awards. The old show stands up in a big way.

Cutting the cord was a major blow to the culture of western society.

Cutting the cord is genuinely just a way to say “I only watch Netflix and Amazon prime”. Those two woke garbage companies now get to run a monopoly on what content people consume.

Lmfao thanks for the laugh :D

So you think cable wasn’t woke or agenda driven? Saying that Netflix/amazon have a monopoly on what people consume is no different than when there were 3 channels available. Cable may have given you an “option” but it wasn’t long before all the channels were owned by the parent companies of the big 4.

Propaganda has always been a way of life comrade.

Yes, thank you.  What our uniformed friend fails to understand is that all American media is owned by one of six mega corporations - Comcast, Disney, Newscorp, etc.  Bill Clinton is responsible for this rise in media consolidation thanks to his Telecommunications Act of 1996.
