Anyone Still Do These 2 Exercises?

Stilff legged deadlifts and behind the neck presses. I never seen anyone doing these any more (besides me). I see them doing Romanian deadlifts and military presses. I've seen this in several gyms the past few years. Didn't expect the non bodybuilders to do these but suprised none of the bodybuilders that I've talked to do them. They say RDL's are better for hamstrings than stiffs. I tell them that behind neck presses are better for width and they say military's are better and that my exercises are outdated. I don't know. I've tried them but didn't think they worked as well but maybe I'm wrong.

I do behind the neck presses quite regular. Same as behind the neck pull downs. I know many say against it, but I have insane strength behind the neck vs in front. Not sure why. Theres probably some physio expert here that knows the mechanics. Another exercise I love that I hardly see anyone doing anymore is upright rows. People do shrugs yet I've never bothered with them. Lats wise, that one exercise behind the neck pull is what really poked them out. Whether it's because I had more strength on the exercise or whether genetically they were bound to no matter what I tried, I don't know but it seems around the time I really started doing that exercise.

         Yep I do behind neck presses behind neck pulldowns still leg deadlifts ( best ham builder there is) And either my nautilus pullover or dumbbell pullover. Honestly I prefer the dumbbell pullover.  I have really NEVER did front press ( front delts get enough from chest work)  and never do front pulldowns ( that seems to be harder on shoulders than behind. I use  a leaning forward style when doing them. It kind of mimicks nautilus behind neck pulldowns and I feel much more in lats.. For me anyways

You're right about uprights. Never see those anymore. They're good for width and I always include them along with behind/neck's and lateral raises after my uprights.
Another one that's slowly going away are barbell rows for back. I see people doing various pulldowns and machine rows instead. I don't know; to me you realize when lifting that barbell/dumbbells give you the best bang for your buck but I think lifters are gravitating to machines more and more.

True. The barbell rows, you're right. Come to think of it, I haven't done them myself other than when training with older guys that do them

also best chance of low back injury, especially going to failure with heavy weights

I do Bradford Presses,and occasionally do Stiff -Legged Deads,as well as Pulldowns Behind Neck,and WIDE Upright Rows........never had a problem with stuff done behind the head,and I bring the bar all the way down until it touches my traps..........did PBN for years when I first started training,haven`t done them in ages as I think Bradfords are better due to the continuous tension......then again I only press occasionally as anterior delts get a lot of work on chest day, and I emphasize lateral delt work in an effort to try to increase my shoulder width.

always get lower back issues , neck issues , bad posture , or some sort of hip impingement or displacement

if you want a developed back , posture is key - locking hips in, scapular protraction while hooking the hands and pulling with the elbows


fck going heavy - no one cares , no one is watching , it’s just numbers and ego focus on the movement

I can say I pressed every way possible for 30 years,db presses,behind the neck,in front etc… they did fuck all for my shoulders. My shoulders are bigger than ever and all I do are laterals,fronts and rears.

I’ve sort of noticed the same. Presses still get done to a degree, but laterals are the key for me.
