Nassar trained at Golds Pacific Beach for awhile, one of the members told me he was there one time and Nassar was squatting with some guy counting reps for him, a much smaller guy at the next squat rack said something and Nassar racked the bar, turned on the guy and berated him for like 5 minutes calling him a "fly" and others things. When the small guy was leaving Nassar was at the front counter, saw him and resumed his verbal bombardment  as he went out the door....Sounds like a real asshole.

Was Nassar wrong though? I mean what was that smaller guy trying to accomplish talking during his set?

It’s hard to have an opinion on Nassar based on this information. Will you reach out to this member to grab some details about this interaction? What we need to know is what set and rep was Nassar was on and how innocuous the comment was. Also did they have a history (some of these smaller guys try to play the victim in this situations to gain sympathy)?

He was intelligent. Edit: but arrogant. Great build when he dialed it in; but there were far better, more consistent bodybuilders whom could dial it in and were, imo, far better conditioned. I always thought Shawn Ray and Flex deserved an O during some of Dorian's reign. Nasser in 97 was great, though.

He kept pursuing the size game after he retired. Overweight, damage from his competing years, and tired internals did the rest. Maybe bitterness also took a tool on his health.

I think it was said he was on dialysis and had heart failure. My guess was that he went to Egypt to his parents to die. I think they said he took a nap and passed. Probably had that within 3 days muslim burial. I have no idea but perhaps he left the dialysis machine in the US, wanted to be by his parents when he passed. This is just me speculating obviously.
