More evidence that 98 Ronnie's back was better than yates.
1998 Mr. Olympia Report:
http://www.maxmuscle.com/index.cfm?fa=article&doc_id=22&subcat=body_building"Milos Sarcev, in his evaluation of Mr. Olympia contenders in the last issue of Max Muscle, saw Coleman as having a good chance:
"At this time, Ron has the best back in the history of the sport," said Mishko, "even better than Benoit and Haney, or Dorian. Ron's thicker, wider, more pleasing. With his big arms and a double pump pose, he could use both his back and his front to win it."
"What transpired was one of the better Mr. Olympia contests: According to Max Muscle European photographer Gary Phillips, Coleman not only won, but he won big. "It wasn't really close," said Phillips. "Coleman just walked on stage and virtually everyone in the audience who wasn't totally partisan knew it was over. He was really quite overwhelming." From the beginning of the show to the end."
"
Ronnie Coleman: At the beginning of this report we wondered whether the next Mr. Olympia would be cast in the Shadow of Dorian Yates, well just as Dorian did in 1992, the dawn of the mass monster was born with thickness and granite striations which marked the beginning of a new era, Dorian's era. Well Ronnie Coleman brings with him a package that is a combination of mass and aesthetics. Many wondered that with the tremendous gains he's made in attaining his new found muscle mass that the additional size would detract from his overall shape. What a shock they got when he walked on the stage every bit a winner and saw that the size of him only added to the overall shape and he looked even better. This hybrid of muscle mass and aesthetics could conceivably mark the dawning of a new physique of the future. Ronnie was awesome, massive arms, great separation and condition with a back that stood out in a line up which stood out, he just kept growing."
