I don't think his lats are that dramatic at that weight his taper helps with the illusion his back doesn't look any wider than Chris or Dennis

ND, I admit that the black and white double bi pose of Dorian is impressive, but the lighting and picture type helped.  In a contest front double bi, Coleman eats his lunch.  Yates chest is not exactly popping out at you in this pic (and I believe it is pre-tear).  Regardless, lighting always can help you look better.  Look at the 1992 pre-Olympia pics of Coleman and then the shape he turned up in at the show.  Talk about missing your peak.  Regardless, Dorian never brought a package on stage was as large (muscularity wise) as his B&W pics.

Actually he was 257lbs in 93 so that wasn't to far off from the B&Ws which he was 269lbs and in 1997 he was over 270lbs but didn't look anywhere near as good as the B&Ws and the shot you posted was from the 93 Olympia and you can notice Yates' chest thickness moreso than Ronnie whos chest goes flat .

let me in on something Hulkster has been trying to let ND know....lighting does not magically make deeply cut quads and striations appear. Dorian clearly has striations in his chest, but better lighting will exaggerate it more.

ND, although I do prefer Ronnie, I agree that Dorian did have a very powerful looking physique.  It did pop, although I do feel the lack of good arms hurt him greatly.  In 1993, the man looked great.  It would have been an epic battle if Ronnie 1998/1999 faced off against Yates 1993 in a legit, unbiased show; I feel it would get major PPV bucks.  I know you disagree, but I feel that Ronnie (sans the gut) looked amazingly powerful in 2003; most muscular presentation ever on stage by anyone.  Nobody touched him.  I think he barely had to step out of the line up it was so cut and dry.  I really need to get to a show (been a couple of years) as the guys are getting insanely huge.  BTW, the orangutan was not really Doz; that was Ernie Taylor. I agree with you 100% on the quad issue...Dorian's quads have horrible, weird shape, weak separation, and no striations. BUT, I feel that Dorian's midsection is SO much better that he would still win the pose. Unlike Dexter, Dorian actually has the size to compete with Coleman.

other than calves, lats and abs, the man was nothing special from the front.

and he would never beat this, again considering not only is the rear double bi probably better, he has width as well:


All of those shots with Dorian dominating Kevin and Nasser only show one thing: yates would get killed by Ronnie.

All of those great shot from 1993 show one thing: It is very questionable that yates deserved to beat Flex that night.

The judges were blinded by size and width.

The quality of flex was greater than Dorians that night.

Just as the quality of Ronnie would be the same.
