Its funny how no one on the horizon can ever hope of taking it to Ronnie's level.  When Dorian was king, Flex was a threat and Nasser was comparable, both had their own respective abilities to be impressive and breathtaking.  Levrone was awesome as well and so was Cormier.  These legends all had the ability to be better than dorian, cept for maybe Nasser (even though he came to closest to actually beating him).  But none of them and none of the current crop can ever hope to attain what Ronnie has.  Ronnie has simply taken it to a level that far ahead of his time.

That's why he lost to Gunter Schlierkamp and Jay Cutler.

Pwned. LOL

Ronnie lost in 02 when he was waaaay overdieted. Do you really think he magically put on 40 lbs of muscle the next yr? He lost to Culter in 06 when he was almost 43 yrs old and past his prime. Don't be so naive.

Yates was not a dominant winner and in fair contests lost most of the time to more deserving guys who were stiffed.

if you have eyes it is clear that ronnie is better, legs save calves suck. his arms suck, his chest looks like shit in mm. and his delts arent all that round nor striated. ronnie is bigger, rounder, just as conditioned, better individual parts, and more vascular and detailed over-all. i just dont see how dorian would win. he was great for his time, but ronnie stepped it up a notch.

this comment should end the discussion. lock the thread. ;D

so, lets see.

sounds like you are making a decision about dorian's career on how his chest looks in one pose - the mm?

everything you said about coleman is mostly true.

his shoulders have more striations, his arms are better, at time his quads have looked better.  at times, they havent.

coleman overall is rounder with better shape and more vascular.

everything just mentioned, coleman had when he competed against dorian through the years of 92-97. WHERE DID THAT LEAVE RONNIE?  HOW DID HE DO AGAINST DORIAN?  WAS RONNIE ANYWHERE ABOVE 5 PLACES FROM DORIAN?

after dorian retired in 98, ronnie's conditioning improved - but he was never as dry or hard as dorian.  or even anything close to it.  coleman never had the density or thickness yates had at any weight under 287 like he was in 2003.  however, ronnie's watery and bloated conditioning would make it seem he showed up for a guest posing once he stood next to dorian.

at his all time best, ronnie BARELY beat a subpar flex.

flex at his best lost 20-40 to dorian.

yeah, that sounds right.

only lost 2 times throughout his career.

won 5 out of 6 olympias with perfect scores.

wasnt a dominating winner and lost most of the time?

that comment ranks up there with some of your other classic comments.

He beat Cormier at an all time best (99 o or 01 ASC), Levrone in close to or maybe his best ever (00 O) ... He beat Ray at close to his all time best (00 O) ... his early wins were over some stiff fields.

he did beat cormier at chris' best.

but shawn and kevin were no where near their best when ronnie beat them.

did you really mean shawn in 00 when he got 5th?  i could see you saying that IF he got 2nd or even 3rd.

dorian, on the other hand, beat shawn, kevin, nasser, flex, and paul while they were at their all time best.

big difference.

00 was :

Ronnie
Kev
Flex
Shawn
Nasser
Lee

Many had shawn in third as Flex was smoothe, overweight and riddled with synthol bee stings (anyone have pics of his calves from that show?)

Shawn was awesome that day.

at his all time best, ronnie BARELY beat a subpar flex.

flex at his best lost 20-40 to dorian.

owned.

Flex wheeler was never at his best when losing to dorian because Flex only came in at his "best" a few times and it was certainly never at the O.  Flex's best showings:

92 nationals
93  ASC

good showings:
93 O
97/98 ASC (not sure which it is that certain people tout as his best)
99 O

Flex played the size game because he was not GOOD enough when small to beat Dorian OR Ronnie... and he wasn't good enough when blown up either.

Lets take a look at something:

92 O:

1st Dorian
2nd Levrone

Flex not in competition

93 O

1st Dorian
2nd Flex (not what he was at the ASC,)

94

1st Dorian
2nd Shawn Ray

Flex did not compete

95 Olympia

1st Dorian
2nd Levrone

Flex was 8th...

96 Olympia

1st Dorian
2nd Shawn Ray

Flex was 4th

97 Olympia

1st Dorian
2nd Nasser

Flex withdrew (ninjas anyone)

Dorian faced an "ON" flex wheeler ONCE... ONCE!!!  Its not like they were great rivals.  Ronnie had to beat an "ON" flex once as well (99 O) and beat him too. Ronnie only "barely" beat flex because ronnie wasn't even in the first callout at the 98 O as the judges didn't notice him in the first round.  Had ronnie gotten the callouts he deserved, he would've trounced flex at the 98 O.  Flex was a "name" and the heir apparent.  Ronnie was not.

okay, now you are on ND's level of stupidity.

compare these pics and tell me if your argument still holds:

fact is, ronnie was not even close to his 99 level when in ANY of the years that he faced Dorian.

we have been over this before and some are still too stupid to get it:

as we can see Ronnie looked down right scawny most of the years he faced Yates.

his frame did not look good with 235 pounds of muscle on it.

He need to get up to around 245-257 to fill out and really begin to look GOOD:

Re:Zane at his peak vs Shawn Ray at his peak

"Frank Zane , by far , Zane in my opinion has a better V-taper , his shoulders were wider and his waist was smaller than Rays , Ray at times appears blocky and has narrow shoulders , and his thighs overpower his high calves , Zane has better legs , Zane looks like a puzzle with each part conecting perfectly , not since Steve Reeves has anyone bodybuilder came close to having a " perfect " body , Ray had better Abs-Intercostales , better hamstrings , Ray was certianly more muscular , but not as impressive , and Zane was a better poser !! Ray shouldn't be compared to Frank Zane , Ray isn't a great bodybuilder , Frank Zane is , Ray couldn't compare to Flex Wheeler , nevermind 1 of 3 that beat " The Oak " ." - NarcissisticDeity

Is it safe to say that ND's credibility is shot?  :-X
