1. Lat-to-waist ratio: Abs-and-thighs, front lat spread, rear lat spread.
2. Shoulder-to-waist ratio: Relaxed front round, back relaxed round.
For you to argue that the delts does not create taper in some angles and poses, you'd need to demonstrate that two men with similar waist girths but different delt widths, while standing relaxed from the front, would have similar tapers.
