the thing is that yates came on as a winner, while coleman was still working 50 hours a week and selling steroids to his cop buddies. 

it only took ronnie 7 years to get to the top, after yates retired and all the other top competitiors were old and out of their prime.

Exactly. Ronnie's lower back has no thickness compared to Yates. The single best empirical evidence we have points conclusively to Yates as the superior bodybuilder. Yates' back is thicker, wider, more detailed, more ripped, drier. Ronnie has better biceps. OK. Ronnie had better biceps than his competitors in his loses during his Olympia reign. They did nothing for him. What did they do against Jay this past year?

Plus in this picture, Ronnie is 255lbs. He may have added a slight amount of muscle in 98 but really it was just an increase in conditioning, so I don't see him gaining any width or thickness on yates
