this is what I mean about the Dorian nuthuggers letting their personal bias obfuscate them to the judging criteria. Where does it say the traps outweigh everything else in the back poses? Last time I checked, the criteria asks for a well-balanced physique with full muscle bellies and a small waist. Both Dorian and Ronnie have balance issues. Dorian's arms are too small for his torso while Ronnie's calves are overpowered by his quads. So neither has an advantage in the symmetry department. Dorian's back looks denser and more detailed. However, Ronnie's is fuller and has better taper. The discussion boils down to personal preference. It would be ignorant of me to say one strength outweighs another.

I've been saying this for about a year now...and just now you note this?  ::) Both were outstanding champions.

what are you talking about? I'm strictly referring to the back poses. I have no doubts that a prime Ronnie would beat Dorian in a bodybuilding contest.

Dorian wins any pose including the lats or back, that means back double bi, front, and rear latspread. He also wins the side tricep and ab/thigh. Ronnie gets the most-muscular, side chest, and front double biceps.

it's not distended. Ronnie's not exactly hitting a stomach vacuum, but his waist is not distended in that pic.

If by king you mean losing to a 275lb soft refridgerator, then yes  :(

You mean this? With a better midsection than Ronnie had at the 1991 Nationals?

Yawn. Same old most-muscular. Wasn't even a mandatory for 50+ years LOL.

This is the real deal: Yates kicking Coleman's ass in just about everything else, LOL

now Coleman has been trumped in the back department because of his strikingly smaller trapezius Yates is clearly superior! The only pose in which Ronnie can effectively bring his biceps to bear is the most muscular, where he hunches over hiding his stomach, but Yates still takes the majority of the mandatories.

"Strikingly smaller trapezius.." ::)

Yates looks sort of like Coleman, but without any definition or refinement.
