I just dont feel my legs working at all on the straight bar like I did with the trap bar going to bring feet closer and try that
I also could not move my fucking arm a couple weeks ago and have been taking it easy. I am currently 210lbs not 235lbs that makes a difference
It may cause it to be harder though - not feeling in the legs doesn't mean "more power" if you do feel it in the legs.
Trap bar is more of a squat and you generally engage from lower (even if you've got the handles up) because your grip is from wider, not feet position. Actually, I'm not sure if it is engaging from lower, it certainly engages from a place more naturally in the squat. You're not easily going to replicate that with deadlift because your arms aren't by your sides.
I have pretty short arms and in my biggest deadlifts, I actually pulled with a slightly wider grip so that I was engaging from lower but it probably isn't easier in most cases.
Additionally, don't listen to anybody here who goads you about straps, if you change to mixed grip, you could well make the lift even more asymmetrical than it was. That's a retarded thing to do for someone who has trained max deadlifts once.
