I know, but thats not the question I asked

"How many people do you know who have torn muscles doing bodyweight excercises?"

I have hurt my back putting a tin of soup in a shopping trolley, a back spasm.

I saw a guy who i worked with in a Gym ( he was a prick ) show off doing one hand chins.
If i remember correctly it was a chin up & supinated, think he used a strap too on the bar. I watched him tear a bicep as i was on a crosstrainer doing cardio.

so he actually overloaded the bicep by using a strap, he also put his bicep in the weakest position possible.

Without the strap chances are he would have failed the lift before the bicep gave out

the crosstariner bit needs a "no homo"  ;D

;D i loved the Crosser, interval programme . sometimes i did 15 mins crosser, 15 mins bike, 15 mins rowing machine.

Like i wrote the guy was a prick, infact i nearly had a fight with him in the Gym.

Struggling with chins at the moment, feel like Im going to rip my biceps and shoulders.
Havent done them for a while

Settting myself a goal of 20 chins by the time I turn 60 next July

How many consecutive chins can you guys do and how old?

First thing is lose some fucking weight   ;D

Brian, fuck off its not for you...

Good question and fun personal fact

I started doing pullups on each workout from age 15 to age 30
on back days I would start with a 25 lb. plate on hanging on my waist and at my best I would finish with a 120 dumbbell for 15 reps ......  I stopped doing pull ups altogether at around age 35 ...

At age 45, I tried to do 10 miserable reps and my joints weren't too happy about it.

As I turned 52 this weekend (I'm still in decent shape) I might try to do at least 5 reps and see if I don't break in half lol

story about my uncle

He was in a pub playing dominoes with a group of guys, one guy was huge bull of a bloke, someone played a wrong domino and no one noticed until near the end of the game, the big guy accused my uncle and threatened him.
My uncle backed down because of the size of the guy, a bit later the big guy got up to go to the bar and he was limping as he had a skinny little leg..
My uncle just shouted, "hey you, about this fucking domino"

the other guy did 3/4 reps, Brian went full hang, thats what Im doing.
The guy also used momentum like a cross fitter , he wouldnt have got 20 if he went full arm extension on the negative

esp if you weight 200 lbs or more.  the pic below was supposed to be a world record, I forget what the total weight was.

Yeah adding weight is insane. I remember at my strongest weighing around 285-290 I did 15-20 pull ups. But adding weight onto my weight and I’m not that good at pull ups. I’m good for 10-15 now at 270.chin ups around 10 at the moment.

Previous world record for pull-ups with a 100-lb pack was 14 up until 2023 when some Chinese fucker did 25. He also holds the world record for heaviest single pull up.

PSB's feat of strength is up there with the Scott's squat of 515 for 20, 535 for 20, 585 for 5 and then back down to 515 for 20 in terms of sheer magnificence. Some super-strong athletes on this board.

The Scott

Wow!  That is fantastic!  The most I ever managed was  20 to 24 (memory sucks, LOL!).  I weighed over 200lbs but I couldn't do pull-ups at all.  Now I can not do a single one, nor a pushup.   ;D I am pathetic, I know!  ;D
