I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed about I volunteered after graduating college for the enlisted Infantry in a time of War and did the best I could. It's not my fault I got sent to Kosovo instead of Afghan or Iraq take it up with the needs of the Army.

Nope happy to say I have never shot anyone. We were to there for war we were there to prevent genocide. The Serbians had slaughtered and pushed out the ethnic Albanians then we pushed out the Serbian Army so then the ethnic Albanians attacked the ethnic Serbs. Kosovo is between Albania and Serbia so was the worst of it. We found mass graves everywhere it was really awful. The Serbians were Christians and the Albanians were Muslim and they mixed in Kosovo and then one day after 500 years of peace they all just decided to start killing each other again.

We had Albanians trying to come over the border each spring and start back up the war that is why we patrolled the border and watched for weapon smuggling. They would pot shot at us from far ridgelines in the mountains out of real lethal or accurate range by the time we went down the mountain and back up to the far ridgeline they would be long gone. We had up armor SUV and wore plated body armor so it wasn't a huge deal but it did happen.

My Sergeant only gave me permission to fire back once the two of us had left the 2 up armor Humvees in the snow to explore further on patrol before bringing the vehicles. We had 2 vehicles and maybe 6 or 7 of us that night? I didn't hit anything honestly, I could barely see anything it was practically a whiteout but we heard gunshots they must have seen the vehicle lights and my Sergeant told me to fire back I aimed in the general direction. We then went back the Humvees and that was it. We never identified who had been shooting. Not exactly combat veteran status worthy but I did discharge my rifle on patrol.

Now I see that what you're actually saying is that you never came under accurate enemy fire, but you once received permission to blindly fire into the general direction of gunshots that you knew were too distant to have been effective. Sure, Brian, ordinarily I'd agree with you, but you must recognize that there's an inconsistency here and that it only became apparent through you sharing the aspects of your military history that you thought sounded good. You've told us about everything else, but now that it looks as if you've dug yourself into an uncomfortable foxhole, you’re being evasive and refusing to address the inconsistencies.

You must admit, this is strange. You’re a middle-aged man with new career goals and a family. Surely all of this ancient history is trivial? Just be upfront. You were denied the Green Beret selection and made to go infantry, and you did one deployment and then left very early, without having to do the mandatory reserve service, without getting to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan as you claimed you intended, and you received a general discharge (under honorable conditions) as opposed to an honorable discharge. This indicates that something major happened. People hire lawyers to attempt to overturn these general discharge characterizations. Given your knowledge in this area, I assume you tried this, no?

Why won't you just be a normal adult about this and clarify the circumstances?
