His first 3 shows :
Arnold Classic : 1st place
Night of champions : 1st place
San jose pro : 1st place.
Not In that order.
Still pretty impressive !!!

I believe you missed one. Francois' very first show was the 1994 Chicago Pro, which he won. A week later, he entered the Night of Champions and emerged victorious, defeating a top 5 that consisted of Nasser El Sonbaty (2nd), John Sherman (3rd), Alq Gurley (4th), and Mike Quinn (5th).

In 1995 he pulled off somewhat of an upset by defeating Flex Wheeler to win the Arnold Classic. However, most will acknowledge that Wheeler was not as his best, as he prematurely came back to compete after that severe car accident of his. Wheeler was supposed to enter the San Jose to avenge his ASC loss but withdrew, due to illness. Francois beat Wheeler one more time at the '95 Olympia, where he placed 7th to Wheeler's 8th. But, once Wheeler got back into his prime form, he defeated Francois every time the two of them competed against each other.

As for why Francois left bodybuilding, I thought he had colitis, not cancer.

ok im goin to sleep after this
if the dude had amazing genetics he wouldnt quit due to illness and wouldnt f**k himself up. get the amazing genetics garbage out of your vocabulary...
let milos train a kid from age 16-17 and feed him lots of calories + good training + hormones at the right time and dose and he will be just as thick. enough of that genetics crap already man,,

Flex Wheeler had Colitis ...just like Francios.  Do you think that Flex had bad genetics?

Do you think Dennis Newman, Don Long, Flex Wheeler, Mike Mattarazzo, Tom Prince have bad Genetics because they had illnesses?

Mike Francios was one of the few pros who had quads that were nearly as thick down near the knee joint as they were up near the hip.

His biceps were super peaked too.

He had no weakness.

At 1995 Arnold where he handed Flex his ass

Uhhh, No. It could have gone either way. Haney himself he thought Flex had it because Francois was too blocky.

I need to download  the 95 Arnold, cause it was a good lineup.

What I think gh15 is referring to IS genetics.  Just like the ability to put on mass, have good muscle bellies, long tie-ins, small waist, etc., the ability for one's body (i.e.- liver and kidneys) to absorb the stress of heavy and long-term androgen use is GENETIC.  That is why Coleman is an amazing freak, because his guts can take it.  A lot of guys using MUCH less gear are pissing blood and have ALT and AST (liver function tests) levels through the roof.  That's why so many guys disappear so soon or cancel shows left and right due to "illness."
A guy like Kevin Levrone, who's ego can handle being small during 6 months of the year, allows his organs to "rest" and can extend his career to well over a decade.  The problem now is that (again, as gh15 mentions, sort of) is that quality gear is MUCH more difficult to come by, originally because of Big Brother criminalizing 'roids, and recently with the shut-down of QV, Denkall, etc. (I use the term "quality" loosely when it comes to the mentioned Mexican companies).  Now guys are using GH and slin, among other non-androgens, since they are much more readily available and are not on the controlled substances list, but the result is a different looking BBer.

I've posted this very same thing about genetics countless of times on tis board.  Genetics is not just "beautiful lines" or "great structure".  how a body responds to gear, proness to injury, muscle shape/insertions, metabolism rate, skin thickness, recovery capability, etc.

the gear was heads and shoulder's above all the ug shit around today. gh15 touched a little on parabolan, problably the best all around size & quality drug available in the early nineties. it was unreal how it could change a person's physique almost overnight :'(

Parabolan was great stuff.  I do remember it making me extra aggressive...to the point of wanting to destroy any one who dared even make eye contact with me while training.  It was either that or the low carb dieting :-\

Either way, I'm much more mellow now :)

nonono....let me clarify one thing that is very very important!
all of those individuals you mentioned quit bodybuilding ONLY DUE TO HORMONE USE THAT RESULTED IN HEALTH PROBLEMS! ALL OF THEM PERIOD! WHAT THEY SAY IS ONE THING AND THE REALITY IN THEIR HOSPITAL FILES IS ANOTHER THING. NO HOSPITAL WRITE ANYWHERE THAT EVERYTHING IS DUE TO THE USE OF OVERDOSED TOXICS AND IN MANY TIMES THE COMBO OF PAIN KILLERS/HORMONES/NARCS....NO HOSPITAL WRITE IT BECAUSE IT IS VERY HARD TO PROVE. IT IS AS A DIRECT RESULT OF HORMONAL USE WITH A COMBO OF FEW OTHER FACTORS...AND THIS PROBLEMS WOULD NEVER COME TO LIGHT IF THOSE INDIVIDUALS WERE NOT BODYBUILDERS WHO HAD TO TAKE THEIR PHYSIQE TO A NATIONAL LEVEL. THATS THAT

take a good hard look at those individuals you mentioned! go and take current,on the spot pic, when they wake up in the morning oR even after they eat their last meal of the day....you will see a whole diff pic my friend

all the individuals you mentioned look as of today like an everyday person walking down the steet and the majority of them look even less than the evryday person walking down the street because their health is fucked up...(not even talkin bout the hormonal system because the hormonal system as i come to discover during the years is more in your head than anything else)

now...to be specific what i meant is:
newman = average genetics
old mike = average genetics
ken wheeler = average genetics
don long = average genetics
matta = average genetics
and yes i forgot him ...prince = average geneteics

i didnt say their genetics was bad because none of them would be able to do anything in bodybuilding and would quit way before he did a state show but their "GENETICS" didnt hold to what it takes inorder to survive bodybuilding.

old mike can have legs as big as the ocean and arms as big a mountain but it dont change the fact that he is melting genetically next to ron, ray, old arnie (that can still be as big as anyone even after his heart problems at age 60) and many others.

by the way you can have average genetics and become top pro. just take a look at mr yates.

ken was runner up mr o yes he was amazing bodybuilder....but im sorry to tell you my friend...if he get next to you today in the gym you will most likley not recognize him and im pretty sure you will think youre bigger (not sure you will be but trust me you will think that ;))

if you look twards good "GENETICS" as you call it...i suggest you look twards kevin and such

im hungry im going to eat

GH - I want to understand your point a little better.  By bad genetics you are referring to their inability to handle prolonged usage of hormones?  If so, I would agree.

If not, I would hardly say that Newman had avg genetics.  I was training at around the same time as Dennis was coming up.  We both trained at the old Powerhouse in Huntington Beach.  I remember he was putting on about 20-30 lbs per year, while eating & training like shit.  I on the other hand, while juicing as much as he was, training harder/eating better, was barely putting on 10 lean lbs. per year.  So, in that sense, he seemed to me like a genetically gifted freak...
