Maybe, maybe not. They say the heart needs the right kind of stress to keep healthy. I have LVH from steroids and cardiologists tell me I should do a lot of cardio such as walking. The heart remodels itself to an extent based on what kind of stress you apply. And bodybuilders are now taking a number of drugs as a preventative, some drugs have been shown to reduce and prevent LVH among other things. Personally I would now in retrospect have taken ARBs from the start; can't prove they would have prevented anything but I have a hunch they might have, wluld certainly have kept BP lower. And cardio is proven to lower BP.

every mammals heart has an average amount of heartbeats, once you use them up your done.

Hamsters have a RHR between 300 and 600 BPM
Thats why they only live a couple of years

there is a correlation. hearth rate and metabolism. Likely in humans aswell.

in the opposite spectrum the Greenland shark has a RHR between 4 and 6 beats per minute.

They are estimated to life up towards and maybe past 400 years.

That's what some say, others say it's baloney. It's always stressed that you should "get your heart rate up" for heart health. Though of course there's a compensatory lowering of RHR and BP in the hours after so... which I wasn't exactly aware of until a few years ago. What do you think, many bodybuilders now eat beta-blockers to lower their heart rates, will they live longer because of it? I think maybe but not at all sure. Personally I've always had a very high heart rate, like bhanks lol, I think part genetic and partly because I've never done cardio (some PEDs of course jack it up too). I'm prescribed 300mg of metoprolol beta-blocker where 200mg is supposed to be max dose. Pharmacists always question whether the prescription is really correct. But the HR is still high. Lately I've scored as low as 76 BPM but I think it's because I lost a lot of weight, but that is still a relatively high RHR.

I've seen it stated that thyroid hormones mainly increase metabolism because of increased oxygen consumption and increased heart rate. The biggest factor but there are more mechanisms I'm sure.

Also, the main thing that increases free radicals is breathing so breathe as little as possible. 8)

the fitter you are the lower your resting heart rate so less beats means longer life?

Then again you have to raise your heart rate to increase fitness.

Tis a conundrum...

Keep in mind there's also alot of things that can lower heart rate but that is also not good.
So lower heart rate in humans doesn't automatically mean longer life span.

like dysfuntion in thyroid hormone production. It will lower the heart rate, but not in a good way.
Quote
Hypothyroidism slows the heart rate and weakens the heart's contractions, decreasing its overall function. Related symptoms may include fatigue and shortness of breath with exercise. These symptoms may be more severe in people who also have heart disease. In addition, hypothyroidism can cause mild high blood pressure (the diastolic or second number) and raise blood levels of cholesterol.

so often times when someone has a unusually low heart rate and is not endurance athlete, it means some form of health issues.

As for myself I thought to myself I'd rather raise my test levels to upper/slight supra. levels(which may lower lifespan) and life full and fullfilling life to 75, than to whimper out in a sad existense to 85.

they are called "outliers" you always omit them when making generalisations.

Always? jeez... Why always so antagonistic/hostile? When having a casual discussion...

I wasn't making a counter argument just putting out info about lower heart rates in humans. Also which other examples in debates/discussions do you have about me "always" omitting outliers?...

Anyways, I believe humans baseline heart rate that we are made to live with and doesn't affect us badly may not be super low. Because our physiology is not designed for super low heart rate, it will have opposite effect.

Just because other animal species live longer on super low heart rates it may not be the same benefit for a human physiology.

it wasnt meant to come across as hostile

There are always outliers in every generalisation
Of course there may be people with health conditions that create a low heart rate but you have to exclude those people when making generalisations

Its like there only being two sexes and then trying to include intersex people as a third sex, its not, its people with a genetic disorder.

They dont count

Nature did not make us to do lots of cardio or other long term high intensity physical work which bodybuilding is. Walking, fucking, fighting, climbing, sprinting only when necessary. Everything else is just an additional stress on the body. Bodybuilding, powerlifting or any other sport that puts a lot of physical stress on the body isn't healthy at all. All BS propaganda.

Maybe. If they have undiagnosed heart disease it could be potentially helpful. But it depends on what kind of heart disease they might have. And there are side effects too: breathing issues, fatigue, libido issues, etc.

I've said many times that PEDs can simultaneously lower and increase lifespan through different competing mechanisms  :D For example if you otherwise would be frail anabolics might be good, lower the chance of breaking a hip and then withering away completely during convalesence. It's also interesting how grip strength is related to longevity, it's a good predictor in the elderly, but whether anabolics induced increased grip strength also predicts lifespan is of course debatable  :D

Maybe. If they have undiagnosed heart disease it could be potentially helpful. But it depends on what kind of heart disease they might have. And there are side effects too: breathing issues, fatigue, libido issues, etc.

For sure; my doc mentioned just one, potentially worse sleep. They lower melatonin among other things.

Bodybuilders now use heart meds as a profylactic, before the heart is adversely affected. In theory they could prevent LVH, negative heart remodeling, to an extent. I believe it's true what bb coach Justin Harris says, by watching and keeping BP low you may prevent 80% of the negative sides of PEDs. Bodybuilders and their coaches didn't understand  heart meds in the past, lile Fouad said he didn't know you could take heart meds and still bodybuild  :D

The ARB Telmisartan use from the start of PED use was popularized by the i sufferable asshole Victor Black. LEF.org has a promotional article on all the benefits of Telmi and I believe this article was influential. Metformin for insulin sensitivity is also very popular and life extensionists have theorized it could increase lifespan as it does in animals and therough mechanistic reasons. I do believe good insulin sensitivity is important for health, especially for a PED user. As joswift has said many times the natural supp berberine can be an equally good substitute for Metformin. Recently some org tested berberine supps on the market and a lot was crap, so it's always a good idea "research" good brands when buying supps, just as an aside  :D

"destroying" a natty

big deal

Just saying the high dose GH look is not good. The cheapening of gh has brought this out even more.

Look at how the first guy's abs sit, that part is genetic  :D

Palumbo maintains he didn't use much more than 2iu a day and recommends that dosage all the time (insulin recs are also very low relatively like a dozen units vs  100 units with Milos, curiously Milos always had a tight midsection. Justin Harris thinks you can't run much more than 2iu GH long term without your physique suffering. Bodybuilers now use 20iu as standard, many of them at least. I think GH replacement starts at about .8iu and is adjusted based on IGF levels. For the PED users, it appears as though tren actually lowers systemic IGF but it's speculated local IGF in muscle is elevated and that is somehow related to the low systemic IGF levels. IGF of course comes from GH making the liver increase production.
