As for myself I thought to myself I'd rather raise my test levels to upper/slight supra. levels(which may lower lifespan) and life full and fullfilling life to 75, than to whimper out in a sad existense to 85.
I've said many times that PEDs can simultaneously lower and increase lifespan through different competing mechanisms

For example if you otherwise would be frail anabolics might be good, lower the chance of breaking a hip and then withering away completely during convalesence. It's also interesting how grip strength is related to longevity, it's a good predictor in the elderly, but whether anabolics induced increased grip strength also predicts lifespan is of course debatable
Maybe. If they have undiagnosed heart disease it could be potentially helpful. But it depends on what kind of heart disease they might have. And there are side effects too: breathing issues, fatigue, libido issues, etc.
For sure; my doc mentioned just one, potentially worse sleep. They lower melatonin among other things.
Bodybuilders now use heart meds as a profylactic, before the heart is adversely affected. In theory they could prevent LVH, negative heart remodeling, to an extent. I believe it's true what bb coach Justin Harris says, by watching and keeping BP low you may prevent 80% of the negative sides of PEDs. Bodybuilders and their coaches didn't understand heart meds in the past, lile Fouad said he didn't know you could take heart meds and still bodybuild

The ARB Telmisartan use from the start of PED use was popularized by the i sufferable asshole Victor Black. LEF.org has a promotional article on all the benefits of Telmi and I believe this article was influential. Metformin for insulin sensitivity is also very popular and life extensionists have theorized it could increase lifespan as it does in animals and therough mechanistic reasons. I do believe good insulin sensitivity is important for health, especially for a PED user. As joswift has said many times the natural supp berberine can be an equally good substitute for Metformin. Recently some org tested berberine supps on the market and a lot was crap, so it's always a good idea "research" good brands when buying supps, just as an aside
