There was no long storymy friend...with all due respect. if course his accomplishments weren't recognized...he competed against nobody in a different federation. if he was as good as he thought he was, he would have had no issue whatsoever in competing against the NPC's best...only in his eyes would it have been a " step backwards" ...in reality...it would have been a huge step forward to hAve to face the REAL best amateurs in the world....and he obviously didn't want to test the waters...much like Vic Richards.
I don't know Jeff, and certainly have no issue with him personally...just spelling it out as someone who was there....on the stage trying to EARN the right to compete as an IFBB Pro.
I hear ya` Bob,but he did want to compete with the best,in his mind it just didn`t seem fair to have to kind of requalify so to speak.
As you well know, this was not an issue with other AAU and NABBA guys who went over to the IFBB............namely,(just a few off the top of my head),Waller,Coe,Viator,Dickerson,Morris,Tinnerino,Oliva,Bill Grant, etc., etc.,etc.,among many other top guys of that day.
Why Jeff King?
Also tons of lesser bodybuilders made the swith from the AAU to NPC..............almost everybody competed AAU before the NPC became established, even Jim Manion himself.
Others who made the switch with no hitches involved:
Anibal Lopez,Ray Mentzer as well as Mike Mentzer,Steve Michalik,Defendis,Leon Brown..............I could go on and on.
Again why the special conditions for Jeff King?
I miss the good old days!!

Anyway,Hope all is well with you and yours Bob!
