From the front: mr O.
From the back: mr No...

BTW he came in 5th at the 1988, Mr Olympia. I still have the old issue of FLEX with me. Damn, he was good! 1. Haney, 2. Gaspari, 3. DeMay, 4. Labrada 5. Strydom and 6. Mike Quinn   He could have made top 3 for sure if he didnt join WBF later. He actually looked the BEST in 91 and 92 when he won WBF.

Do you have 9 pro titles?   :-\If i am not mistaken ( i am not a bodybuilding historian), there are only a handful of pros with that or better achievement.  ;)  Next time take a good look at yourself before you speak   Stil luv ya though :-*

read my post sparky- strydoms physique as a whole is very impressive.

but legendary? c'mon. ronnie coleman is legendary. arnie is legendary. haney, yates guys who changed the face of bbing.

and dont think for a minute i couldnt rival strydom for size and shape had i had it in my mind.

hope this helps.

(ps. i like you too. your a good guy.)

Agree.  There's a black and white shot of him from the first show that's unreal.  The fullness is extraordinary.

everybody knows he had a subpar back, but otherwise every other bodypart was outstanding

when he turned pro at the nats, his conditioning was unbelievable, very thin skin

Looked better than flex or kevin from the front far better lines than Dorian, Ronnie too.

Great front genetics lol.
Actually, Ronnie before he gained all that mass looked better from the front in terms of taper, and so did Kevin, Flex, Bob Paris, Shawn Ray, Chris Cormier, Demey, Charles Chairmonte, Roland Czuirlock, the French dude who tore his pecs, Bertil Fox, Brian Buchanan, Lee Haney, Lee Labrada, Charles Glass, Toney The Jet, and shit load of others...
Great arms, delts and chest...good legs and abs, was particularly impressed by his chest and delts.
But calling him legendary, come on, that's too over the top.

never realised how small his arms appeared in the bdb and even fdb, noticably smaller than haney who didn't have standout arms.
From the front: mr O.
From the back: mr No...

Legend is a pretty broad term.  Gary is a legend to me based on his GREAT achievement in pro contests and outstanding physique he brought to the stage. Beside his GREAT personality. So down to earth and approachable. ITs his :) :) :) total package that impressed me bro.

P/s: I disagree with some of the guys you mentioned had better front than Gary. No names needed to be mentioned here though :-*

Great  achievement and great personality? Oh, you are laying it on thick...maybe it has to do with Gary being over there? And him helping you or him being a hook up.
If he is missing a back, he lacks the total package, much like you missing an arm now.

There are a ton of dudes well ahead of Gary, I suggest you try one that is not in that area..

Is Garys back really bad?  or does he just not know how to pose well from the back?

ooooooohhhhhhhh! Calm down dude. Its just my personal opinion about Gary being a legend. You need some Brewyer ice cream to cool you down man. Its also great for bodybuilders to gain quality mass according to GH 15.  ;D ;D ;D  Luv ya :-*  Dont be too serious ;D Chill and Cheers

He's taller than most though, so he's better than most.

Decent amount of mass and height , you can do anything (beside winning Mr O) :D

That clip was from WBF BodyStars that aired one week before the second (and final) WBF Championship in 1992.

Here is the original from the video of the 1991 Championship, with Greg Lewis and Tom Platz doing the commentary.
