Type 2 Diabetes was diagnosed around early November, with a glucose level of 11.2% (been that high for 2+ years). Took Metformin for a month, then stopped because it was whacking my stomach, but the best thing I did was get a Freestyle Libra 3, which tells me what was actually spiking me with the sugar glucose. That helped the most. Stopped rice, sushi, oatmeal and basically watched the spiking levels, and within 3 months, went to to about 6.9%, which I am now.
Learned a ton about what to eat, etc. More protein, definitely more fat (aka, olives, humas, even real ice cream) and eating protein with fat and less carbs made me, in 3-4 months, lose 30 pounds too, which is cool. Yes, can't eat pasta or dumplings, but worth it at the end learning about what spikes glucose. Not what I thought would do it too.
