Few questions if I may:
What's the logic of Lantus in the AM as opposed to last thing at night?
What do you consider as 'hypo' levels?
Do you use a finger-prick test to check your levels?
Have you considered a Libre or Dexcom?
How do you arrive at the dosage for Novorapid? What carb ratio do you use?
Sorry if this is too nosy!! Got a couple of diabetics in the family so interested - thanks
Lantus can be taken at night as well, little difference, I know some diabetics are instructed to split AM and PM but "science" says it doesn't matter. There now also the Toujeo long acting one which is the same analogue as Lantus but since it's more concentrated it lasts I think 36 hours. Bodybuilders
feel Lantus is weaker the last 12 hours. Some "gurus" advovate just 10iu of Lantus even in beginners for food efficiency, taking stress of the pancreas (LOL), better IGF-1 levels and so on. Some bigger bodybuilders use 100iu daily periodically, some just once a week to top out glycogen while minimizing risk of insulin resistance. Some like the Oxygen athletes were rumored to have cycled up to 300 Lantus a day. Over time high dose Lantus will be very unhealthy I think, just fine for short periods. I have tried around 50iu once or twice. You will feel "pumped" all day, that's the overall consensus.
I don't have a glucometer. The problem with a glucometer is that you have to 'know how to use one', to interpret the reading for it to have much utility for the average dumbo bb. They take it once and get a reading but now what, is the glucose going up or down? You could have one on hand to ensure safety but in reasonable doses the risk of real harm is low, don't know one single case personally and haven't really even seen one on the PED forums. I know I'm in trouble territory when I start sweating, pulse is up, extreme craving for sugar but also everything else LOL, and I start to get these migraine type halos where I can't see. Corrected with sugar within 5-10 minutes every time.
On dosing, I go by the idea that you'd logically want higher than normal physiological levels for going 'beyond' what you could get from food. So for example I hear that Milos usually says 25iu of Humalog both before and after. I very much doubt they use a glucometer, probably go by feel like I do. Sensitivity can change from day to day so you can't say exactly how many carbs you 'need' that day. Now my sensitivity appears very high and glycogen is low so I've tried lower doses with liberal carbs. If GH is in you can 'tolerate' more insulin, in my case I use MK-677 a lot which also makes insulin weaker. I used to take maybe 25iu of Novorapid or Humalog preworkout, perhaps took a lot of insulin the days before gym PRs while trying to top out glycogen and body water, that kind of thing.
Now I'll do 20iu of Lantus once a day and play with a little rapid insulin around workouts while forcing down liquid carbs. Body has changed pretty rapidly in just hours with just a few shots, and OF COURSE it's just water but it's interesting to see. I have ordered MK but if I'd had it I could've inflated by 25lbs in a week if I'd wanted to

Lots of rambling undisciplined text here LOL. But what do you think of my approach?
