So you’re saying only doctors are qualified and no one else can come to conclusions. Am I understanding you correctly?
When it comes to medicine? yes of course. That's the whole point of education. I also think that applies to physics, the law etc. others can certainly have opinions and even good ones but without proper vetting and training you end up with terrence howard who thinks 1x1 doesn't equal 1. Claims can be verified and those with degrees of that nature are considered experts.
I think the word qualified is key here. It implies expertise to my mind
Do I think its possible for a laymen or independent scholar to come to conclusions that are sound, yes? would I trust them, most likely not unless they have shown comprehension. This is the issue with him on medicine, health, he has not shown comprehension across the board as someone who studied the subject.
For example, I can learn how to bench press and probably pour over it in great detail, learn the anatomy, biomechanics and perhaps metabolic adaptations of hypertrophy, both sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar yet without knowing the bigger picture, how it relates to everything else on the body I will likely miss numerous things and cannot be considered an expert on biomechanics (since the body works via tensegrity anyhow).
If we just throw out proper qualifications, ones we all agree are required to be an expert, whats the point?
