Many have strong opinions about IQ and what it means, but most haven't bothered to even have a cursory look at the debates around it. I've been very mildly interested and know about things like the "Flynn effect." Neurosis mentioned some study where kids were taught or mentored in a certain way and achieved up to a 10 point boost. My buddy has very strong opinions and says you can easily boost your IQ by 50% in a month of 'training the tests.' Most seem to think IQ tests are just total crap but they are used under other names to qualify for any number of things in our societies; so apparently it's thought they show something of value.
Regarding the Ashkenazi value, naturally some have objected saying the samples they have used are suspect. Israel, which of course isn't all Ashkenazi, scores "just" 97 if I'm not mistaken. Jews often have a very strong ethnic, in-group identity and this has the effect of concentrating more of them in certain positions through ethnic nepotism. They aren't obviously the only ones exhibiting this trait. Seen complaints of dot Indians doing the same in the US.
And who are included in the white category? Iranians for example?
