What is nonsense to you makes perfect sense to roughly 45% of Americans who currently view government's impact as negative

The government's impact is negative but many are gravitating towards socialism?

How does that reconcile?

Maybe that doesn't reconcile. Government has been gravitating towards socialist policies since the late 19th century, so what else is new? Many socialist countries that are not communist operate as democratic, mixed economies.

I think its an apt time to ask you to give your thoughts / opinions

Watch these videos & tell me what your thoughts are on the folk who are arguing & protesting
& what they're arguing & protesting about.
I'll be genuinely interested in you opinion / what you have to say.
There's no trick or malice behind my asking - just wanting your thought etc.

I have no idea what they are protesting and arguing about, nor do I care. I stopped the videos when they started yelling.

I believe I have previously made it clear that I don't participate in protests. Never have and never will. I have a phobia, called enochlophobia, which is a fear of crowds and crowded places. I first experienced this in 1960 when I passed/blacked out at a Ray Charles concert during intermission when everyone was rushing to get to the restrooms at the Hollywood Palladium. My date, Suzanne, found us a table with another older black couple who bought us drinks. I was fifteen.

"I have no idea what they are protesting and arguing about, nor do I care. I stopped the videos when they started yelling "

Simple solution turn the volume down & watch - only in a couple of clips is the conversation relevant.
Your views & thoughts will be appreciated.

TTo appease you, I once again skimmed those videos. In doing so, I was reminded why these are not the type of people I ever associate with.

The woman in the first video should have kept her mouth shut and not argued with the police. She should have accepted the ticket and offered her explanations to the judge in court.

It seems those protests were in Portland. It is not likely they were anywhere near where I live but even if they happened on my street in front of my home, I would not have gotten involved. Not only do I avoid crowds, but I also avoid hostile situations where people often lose control of their emotions and exhibit a total lack of common sense. However, IMO, people do have the right to speak out peacefully (protest) when they believe something is wrong.

Please let me know at what points those couple of relevant clips occur so that I will not need to watch the whole video, thanks.

You could also ask me specific questions relating to these videos. For example, how do I feel about the increased presence of ICE in Oregon? Answer: I think they should leave. They are neither needed nor welcome here. Ice agents should not be wearing masks, but they should be wearing body cameras which are activated during any and all confrontations. They should not violate people's constitutional and legal rights.

BTW, do you really want to know the views and thoughts of someone with a 5-year-old's intellect? If so, why do you?

Zero sympathy.

🚨 HOLY CRAP. Many Virginia voters are developing buyer's remorse after Democrats are pushing a TIDAL WAVE of tax surges on citizens following the most recent election

"Moderate Democrat" was a BIG LIE.

"New personal property tax on electric leaf blowers and electric landscaping equipment, large employer tax, gun and ammunition tax, new income tax brackets, a delivery tax."

"This would hit you if you make an order on Amazon, Uber Eats or an order that includes UPS, FedEx, delivery here in Northern Virginia."

"There's also a tax they're looking at for events, concerts, an investment income tax, storage facility tax, gym membership tax, dog walking tax, dog grooming tax, counseling tax, digital personal property tax, new car taxes and highway use fees, an increase in the hotel tax here in Arlington, statewide speed cameras."

"Now these aren't taxes but they would include more fines for some drivers, dry cleaning tax, home repair tax and a vehicle repair tax."

"They should really be listening to their constituents a lot more because these tax increases are gonna hurt those who are struggling the most!"

"Republicans are blasting Virginia Democrats tax proposals asking what happened to all their talk about affordability."

"They did campaign on affordability and right now right out of the gate that's been the last thing that we've seen that's been the focus."

Alan Dershowitz: Why I’m Becoming a Republican
I first registered as a Democrat in 1959. The party’s hostility to Israel is too much.
By Alan M. Dershowitz
April 20, 2026

I am a lifelong Democrat. I started campaigning for the party’s local candidates as a teenager in Brooklyn, N.Y., have been a registered Democrat for 67 years, made speeches for John F. Kennedy as a college student, and can count on one hand the number of Republicans I’ve ever supported for any office.

I still disagree strongly with the GOP on abortion, the separation of church and state, immigration, healthcare and taxes, among other things. Yet I’ve decided to bite the bullet and register as a Republican.

The Democratic Party has become the most anti-Israel party in U.S. history. Last week all but seven Senate Democrats voted for an arms embargo against the Jewish state, and an avowed enemy of Israel, Abdul El-Sayed, is gaining ground in the Democratic campaign for U.S. senator from Michigan.

There is no denying that the hard left, anti-Israel wing of the Democratic Party has moved from the fringe to the mainstream. Until recently there was an age gap, with younger voters more strongly opposing Israel, but recent polls suggest that the trend now includes Democrats of all ages. Republicans have their own antisemitic fringe, but for now it remains a fringe.

I believe that the Democratic Party’s hostility to Israel represents a deeper and more dangerous shift away from the center and toward a radical approach that is bad for America and the free world. So I intend to work hard to prevent the Democrats from gaining control of the House and Senate, and I urge those who share my concerns about the increasing influence of radicalism in the Democratic Party to vote, campaign and contribute for continued Republican control of Congress. I will contribute money to Republican candidates, campaign for them, make speeches at Republican events, and urge pro-Israel Americans to change party affiliation or at least vote against Democrats. Until something changes, I will vote Republican for representative, senator and president.

I wish I could designate myself as a “foreign-policy Republican,” but there’s no such option, so I have to go whole hog. By registering as a Republican rather than an independent, maybe I can have some influence on moving some Republican policies toward the center. I have given up on trying to change the Democratic Party. My main goal is to send a message that many traditional Democratic voters can’t accept what it is becoming—a replica of left-wing European parties that are hurting their countries.

Americans generally tend toward political moderation, but both parties have become more extreme, in part due to low-turnout primaries that attract passionate ideologues. Younger voters, who tend to be more extreme, are playing a more active role in politics. They may moderate as they get older, but the trend among Democrats is unmistakable: a hard left turn that is most evident in changing attitudes toward Israel. If the Democrats pay a heavy electoral price, perhaps they’ll wise up and move back to the center, where I (and others) could rejoin it. I don’t know if that is a realistic possibility, but it’s worth a try.

Mr. Dershowitz is a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School and author of “The Ten Big Anti-Israel Lies—and How to Refute Them With Truth.”
