A lot of his form problems could be avoided if he moved the bar lower, off his neck and onto his traps instead. That would pull his torso up instead of looking as if his spine is about to snap in half.

Yes every additional inch at close to parallel usually affects load a lot. I also think it's hard to suddenly switch and squat deep for a max if used to a more shallow range.
