I have asked about this before, but no one can seem to give a clear answer. Just how are things going to be so abundance and plentiful for everyone involved with little to no cost? How will costs and affordability be covered?
There is a Netflix series Love Death Robots that has three short stories about this exact scenario. It is the ones with the space exploring robots in the future. How humanity met their demise and went extinct.
AI will explain this to you if you really care to ask:
An abundance (post-scarcity) economy produces goods through technologies that drive the marginal cost of production toward zero, and distributes them primarily through free or near-free access rather than price-based markets.
Production: Advanced automation, AI, robotics, additive manufacturing (3D printing), synthetic biology, and abundant low-cost energy (renewables or fusion) enable highly efficient, decentralized, on-demand creation of goods. Once fixed costs (factories, designs, infrastructure) are covered, additional units cost almost nothing to make. Open-source designs and shared knowledge further lower barriers.
Distribution: With scarcity largely eliminated for many goods, allocation shifts away from money and markets. People access goods freely or via minimal-cost systems (public commons, universal basic services, digital platforms, or gift/collaborative economies). Pricing, if used at all, covers only residual scarcity or externalities rather than rationing supply. Examples already seen include open-source software, Wikipedia, and near-zero-cost digital goods.
