I'm not speaking for him here, but prior to the show, I believe that Dan honestly thought King would have something of value to say. I don't believe for a moment that Dan knew beforehand that King would cry and moan for over 30 minutes about nothing.
Imagine if john Kerry had gone on Hardball prior to the 2004 Election. He goes on the show and tells the world that Bush is a racist, and that Bush insulted his wife.
What would Chris Mathews do? Would he say "Okay John. Next topic, ..." Or, would he say "That's quite an accusation, John. What evidence do you have?"
In order for BBing Radio to have credibility, it needs to demand that its guests are held accountable for their statements. Otherwise, it's just national enquirer radio. If someone comes on and makes a huge statement that trashes someone, ask them for proof. Don't let his say "My PI has all that", No, ask him to back up his words.
The fact that he was allowed to make baseless claims, with zero demand for proof, disappoints me. If 240 went on the show, and called King a liar, etc, I wonder if they'd ask me for proof. Hmm...
