Tuna, it's what's for dinner.
« on: June 22, 2006, 04:31:14 AM »
I dont know how many times, I open a can of tuna during the day. It has to be about 16 cans, around there anyways. I cant afford salmon, so I eat tuna. Tuna, oatmeal, rice, and whey. That's the way to go. What's yah's diet?

i'd go nuts if i had to eat that all day, everyday.
I eat rice, oatmeal, tuna and other fish, beef(love it) and lots of chicken. And some fruit.

Peace

i hope the number 16 is a joke.  if not, then lets be conservative and day that you consume 30g of protein per can, that equates to 480g of protein.   what im worried about is while 16 might indeed be just a number, it sounds like your consuming double digit cans of tuna.

all i can say is damn.

also, you can afford salmon, just get it in the cans when the cans go on sale.   they go from .99 - 1.50 when on sale.  the pain is to pick out the bones, but of course, do many cans at a time.    each can of salmon is about 2.5 cans of tuna, so its about the same when you get the .50 cans of tuna.

also, why not just buy the meat thats on sale for the week.  cook  it all at once, and have it in the fridge ready to go.    this tuna craze your on is probably not the best idea.

How many times a week do you eat tuna?  If you answered more than 2, your diet could be harmful to your health...

I have 2 cans per day in a 5 day work week, about every month or so I switch to canned chicken breast which is more expensive, but gives me peace of mind

If you are really eating 16 cans of tuna per day I'd be worried about mercury levels.

Damn!!!16 cans a day?Cut the tuna in half (8) & buy what would be spent there on the cans of salmon or whatever else you may fancy.Variety is the spice of life.I'd be in a mental ward if I ate 16 cans of tuna a day!

This is boneless & skinless.
Not fishy tasting at all.

...thinking of witty-sexy comeback....

"...wanna chunk of you...."    "....prefer the fishy taste"

".....i like you better with the skin..."       "...but let me bring the bone...."

ok... it's out of my system... that much tuna (16) is stupid.  the amount of trace metals that you'd be taking in would cause permanent damage

Ah, come on man. Dont be a tuna hater. Dookie, that isnt a joke. I'm 6'1 and at 240. I was told I had to eat about 600 grams a protein a day, for my body weight that is. Tuna doesnt bother me, you kinda get use to it. Just wash it down with somthing, or eat somthing else with it. That helps alot.

That much protein is totally unnecessary.

hey princess how much do those cans run your way.  over here, the're nearly $2, and contain half the grams of protein that i get from the cans with bones.   the cans with bones cost me 1.00 -1.50 depending on the sale price that week.

also those boneless skinless cans never go on sale here  :(

Regular price is $1.43.  They used to go on sale for $1.00 but lately the sale price is $1.25.  I never seem to stock up on enough.

People who eat the traditional style with the bones and skin (yuck) eat it as is.  They don't pick through it.  The bones are very soft and not at all dangerous like a normal fish bone.  Good calcium source.  ;)  Then again, I think the people who use the traditional style are making things like salmon patties and loaf.

wow, i would love for the boneless cans to be 1.00.  I pay that for albecore when it goes on sale.

yeah the bones actually crumble with your fingers.  if your carefull, you can easily pick out the major bone, and just shread it up with your fingers to crush any remaining bones.  actually i like the skin, so for me its no big deal.  just the bones are a pain.

actually, i dont make salmon patties.  i just split a can in 3 servings by eye.  then i just wrap each serving  up in a paper towel, then just put all of them in some rubbermaid.   when i need approx. 25 grams of protein, i just whip one out and mix it with my favorite thing at the time, which is more than likely just rice.

but i want to try the boneless skinless version, just to taste the difference.

also superman if your reading this.  you got some crazy diet man.  first the tuna...now your kfc thread.   just take it easy on the tuna.

I went down to 10 cans of tuna a day. The KFC thing is hard to ignore, but it has to be done.

You eat cans of tuna day in and day out. One day you say to hell with it and put some mayo and bread with that tuna. Sometimes I can’t take it anymore. - Lol :D

Mustard and pickle relish with the canned salmon  ;)  I don't even like tuna anymore.
