Vyotech Title Sponsor for 2007 Ironman Pro
« on: June 23, 2006, 05:34:28 PM »
I had lunch with Lonnie Teper today at Chili's in Northridge, (he was kind enough to pick up the tab, as he did at the Cheesecake Factory after his Junior Cal show three weeks ago) and he told me that Vyotech has signed on as the Title Sponsor for the 2007 Ironman Pro show!

Lonnie also told me that thanks to Jim Manion, the IM will now be a top five qualifier for the Mr. Olympia. The Ironman will be entering its 18th year next February. It will be again in Pasadena (it's 4th year there), which the venue and town is great! (Unless it will rain again - rained 3 years in a row that weekend).

Lonnie also told me that Bodybuilding.com will also be producing the webcast, like they did last year, but with much better quality, sound and production.

There are already too many people qualifying as it is.

Just how many 3rd-tier scrubs have to be put on the Olympia stage before the whole thing loses any meaning?

The ASC is a big-money show, so top 5 makes sense. The NY shouldn't be top 5, and they sure shouldn't be adding more "top 5" shows.

Will they be changing the name to the "Vyotech Shawn Ray Ironman Pro"?  ::)

If so, we'll start seeing ads next month for the Feb show, and they'll feature athetes like Coleman, Haney, Labrada, Munzer, Grimek...

They do this so that it will be harder for the PDI to grab guys.

Not that I know of - usually they start working on the 2007 O a few days after the 2006 O ends.  At the moment, everyone is working on this years' contest. As for title sponsor, I think last year it was Muscletech. This year, it is Hardbody Entertainment.

It would be great if they do webcast the event. I am sure that it is perhaps in the works, given that Hardbody Entertainment produces DVDs and has some value in it. And of course, we all know that bb.com is more than happy to webcast it if all else goes awry.

Lonnie is probably more fit than I am.  The man is a college professor, teaching various health and other interesting classes at Pasadena City College, and has a journalism degree. And as for his knowledge of bodybuilding, he knows more than almost anyone in our industry, except for perhaps Peter McGough and Joe Roark. And lets all face it - isnt he the best emcee out there, with close to 300+ contests.

Where does Vyotech get all this money?

They have to be the MOST beneficial to the NPC/IFBB.

I heard they had hardbody doing everything with one media team, hence the no PPV, and that they are banking on DVD sales to be their cashcow, as the only way to see it.    I hope that wouldn't mean BBing.com wouldn't be able to webcast.  Blocking the PPV AND the webcast, for a show that no one is going to be interested in ordering a few weeks later, ugh...

They get there money from their parent company Hydroderm.

Didn't The Beast come out of nowhere and start spending money like crazy a few years ago?  And then they just stopped...

This year, it is Hardbody Entertainment.

Who is that?

Anyone got a link to their site?

Sounds, um, interesting...

Soft porn...I love it!

Thanks, Ron-man.

"Olympia Officials are promising this year’s event to be the biggest ever..."

They promised that last year.

They lied.

Should fans believe them this time?  Hmm...

Absolutely they should. The Mr. Olympia is the best bodybuilding event in the world. Especially when it is Las Vegas... simple as that.  Where else can you get a press conference, meet the athletes night, expos that are bodybuilding oriented, shows, seminars, and more.

And this is Vegas... where you can catch many other speciality shows on other nights, or just go listen to some music, have some fun, enjoy the city and a little mini vacation for a few days...

I heard that Meet the Olympians was packed last year.  Some said it was the most popular part of the entire weekend.
