there is no "the Gay lifestyle".
or to put it another way, which gay lifestyle? the two lesbians in the suburbs with 5 kids, the 22 year old club kid, the Venice gym rat, the single gay guy with an adopted special needs child, the 40 year old DINKs, the 60 year old couple that has been together for 30 years?
There's no question that the wannabe Puritans in Amerikkka are seriously hung up on 'gay sex'...so much so, that the concept of loving, monogamous relationships isn't even allowed into the discussion. When people say "That's just wrong!" to the idea of two adults being in a committed relationship, I cannot help but laugh and shake my head at the same time.
BUT...
Although it may not involve every single gay or semi-gay person in America, there's definitely a 'gay agenda' in this country being promoted by people that seem to be hung up on 'acceptance'. I don't know which states recognize civil unions for tax break purposes, but other than that, I don't believe that gays are being denied anything at all...except for the priesthood in the Mormon church. Sure, people still snicker when an effeminate guy speaks with a distinct lisp (regardless of whether he's gay), and yes, there are the occasional hate crimes of varying degrees, but the reality for at least the past 20-25 years is that gays - on average - enjoy a higher standard of living than most other groups in America.
