THis "Jump" mentality reveals the deep seeded resentment of fans towards the bb industry. Maybe the current bb Industry cultivated it but why take it out on the PDI.

Someone threatening to jump from a building is a fellow human being in a pitiable state of insanity or despair. Hence the gloating bystanders represent a failure of our humanity - which has depressing implications for everyone, even those not at the scene.

The PDI is not a human being. It is a business entity [allegedly! -

] - a legal/financial construct that exists only in drily-written documents sitting in a file cabinet somewhere. It cannot "die" as men die. And its demise has no bearing on the viability of non-bodybuilding-related, more-intelligently-conceived enterprises.

Truth is, we have been given very little information from Wayne about the PDI business model - it's a priate corporation. Obviously, when the health plan info was released, people called the hospital nonstop asking for details, then declared it a fraud when the kid at the frotn desk woudln't reveal info about a client... What hospital would? When other info is released, the IFBB toolbox will do everything it can to sabotage it (Dex, here's second at the O - stay home Sept 16. Vince Taylor, here's a supplement deal post-dated Jan 1, 07- stay home Sept 16th.)

I think Rhino did the right thing. He clearly had good intentions and was trying to help all parties involved. The tone of his post clearly had no malice in it whatsoever . Vinny should see this and patch up his friendship. Rhino is a grown man who made an informed thoughtful executive decision based on the information he had in effort to do good to help the community. And in the end he squashed a destructive malicious rumour like a bug.

Also for those of you who are questioning his stature as a bodybuilder. He has a great physique, the kind that many of you have said you wish the bodybuilding community would go back to. He looks healthy and fit. The type we need way more of. Hel, What do you guys want?

Also, you should realize he was signed because he is a great Type. He is an All-american, handsome, squared jawed big white guy. He is what Americans love. Whether you like it or not this type sells big, the PDI was right on to sign him up. He will bring in more fans and sell more products than many other bigger extreme looking guys.

I was only making a limited observation about the "jumper" analogy. And I'm on record elsewhere as saying that nothing would make me happier than if a rival organization was successful enough to kick the IFBB in the institutional nuts.

But the few things that we do know about the PDI give us more than enough cause for a rich, juicy skepticism.

1. It's being run by Wayne DeMilia - a man with a long and established track record of screwing over bodybuilders. [Whether at his own behest or as a hatchet man for the Weiders making no difference to my mind.]

2. It's now down to a grand total of one marquee competitor and "pros" determined essentially by fiat. Comparisons to the Harlem Globetrotters playing the Washington Generals come to mind.

3. Qualifying events "rescheduled".

4. Yahoo e-mail address. No comment necessary.

By all means, 240 - keep holding out for a hero. But it ain't Wayne, babe. It ain't Wayne you're looking for.

I see the PDI offering these positives:

1. An alternative....gets boring seeing the same top 3 guys at the Olympia
2. More competitions and $ for pro athletes. Additionally, more pro athletes. There aren't that many male BBing pros.
3. A return to more aesthetic muscular physiques. Huge IMO. The IFBB judges are inconsistant and mass above all wins at the bigger IFBB shows. This is an opportunity to standardize scoring from ground zero and be consistant. Way too many guys with health problems these days chasing extremes. The blocky physiques and bloated guts have gotten way out of hand for 90% of fans.
4. More excitement and entertainment with shows. Posing round, scoreboard, crowd interaction, etc.
5. The ability to bring in some new names from Europe and other countries. Europeans often fight an uphill battle in the IFBB unless they are promoted hard.

But the posters on this board see the PDI not as a business entity but as Wayne and Lee and all the other bodybuilders trying to pursue happiness and prosperity. Wanting them to jump or "burn" is completely illogical and unhealthy to the bb community as a whole and it reveals something about the gloating bystanders.

The only ones that want to see the PDI demise are the rubber-neckers and the people and representatives with a vested interest in the IFBB.
