Atleast Ray devotes time to Bodybuilding still, puts on shows, works with Vyotech...Jay makes DVD's and does all kinds of seminars, and is a super nice guy to every one. Not to mention Consistent and doesn't disappoint at shows.
Levrone....shrank to the size of a bus driver....wants to be a movie star? ( yah ok! and Bush is president...wtv...)
He sings in a band (which got nowhere )

At the end of the day, Levrone just treats bodybuilding like a stepping stone to go do better things, instead he should give some time helping promote the sport that put him on the map in the first place. Great body...not the smartest career decisions.

Shawn has 2 pro wins thats not great by any stretch he was a great competitor and usually showed up in shape , but get serious Flex Wheeler beat his record in his rookie year and it took Shawn 12 years to accumlate those 2 wins , he had 3 but was Dq'ed at the Arnold .

agreed.

although I believe that Shawn at his best would beat Jay and Kevin, in terms of career, Kevin smokes them both.

at one time, Kevin had more pro victories than anyone, beating Vince Taylor's record.

You can't argue with that.

Shawn was probably the best amongst the Mr. Olympia contenders who never won the show - other than Jay I mean.

we're talking about careers here, whether you like shawn's physique more is irrelevant

2 total wins and only competing once a year most of the time

kev place in the top 5 of the O one less time than shawn when competing at basically every show and he placed 6th at his last O only because he tore his tricep a few weeks before

it's not an argument

collussus, no offense, but you seem to be *in love* with the BBing ideals.

If Levrone is able to use BBing to move on to more mainstream ideals, he isn't a prick for it, he's smart.  Two small movie gigs a year and a few appearances, and he's doing better than the other guys who spend 50k on gear (cuts) or struggle to break even on a showw (sray).  And way better than guys stuffing envelopes with DVDs for a 50 cent profit margin.

Also, on another thread, you talked about how Uncle ben W was a very honest businessman who didn't make any $ on the IFBB.   And, you have trashtalked other competitors here with the serious visciousness.

it's cool you compete, it's cool you like the sport.  And I know in another 5-10 years, you'll lose the naivety and cockiness like most do.   Just read and do your research.  Bbing is not a rich sport, an honest sport, a clean sport, a safe sport, or a sport which can sustain you for your lifetime.

Agreed Shawn never put his neck on the line in his latter career, chasing 3rd or 4th loser at the Olympia.Class physique but never really put it on the line.

What I'm saying is that Shawn had the longest spanning Olympia career for someone so consistently placing in the money.

yes because it is easier to peak when you compete once a year

The reason Shawn Ray has only two pro wins under his belt is because he was usually one of those Olympia-to-Olympia competitors. That's the show he wanted to win, and since (at that time) cracking the top 10 at the O qualified you for the next year's show, Ray had no real motivation to win a smaller show.

Otherwise, he'd likely had cleaned up on the Grand Prix Circuit.

I'm not sure 'pro wins' means a thing with a question like this. Darrem Charles has more wins but is a tenth of the icon Shawn is. I'm not into sucking dick but if there are any bodybuilding 'greats' then Shawn is surely one of them. He has one of the classic physiques, regardless of whether Gustavo Bagay has as many wins. Top 5 at the Olypia a million times is never gonna happen for Darrem. Even the gifted likes of Heath  will be lucky to achieve that kind of consistency. Wins shmins, just ask Lee Priest!

Shawn isn't one of the all time greats , he's not even in the top 20 of all time greatest bodybuilders ! he has 2 professional wins in 12 years of competing he would have had 3 be he failed the drug test . 2 wins out of 19 contests and thats great? he always placed top 5 in the Mr Olympia with 2 second place spots while thats pretty damn good , thats not great.

Shawn was consistant but so were a lot of other bodybuilders , Rich Gaspari had 2 runner-ups at the Olympia and he has 9 pro wins ! Lee Labrada has two runner-ups at the Olmpia and he had 8 pro wins and he never placed below 4th in an Olympia and never placed below 5th in a Pro contest . Shawn Ray is very good at marketing himself as great , he was an excellent competitor who was consistant and placed very well , that in my opinion doesn't qualify him was great , especially not with just 2 pro wins in 12 years of competing .

in terms of an actual bodybuilding career, i'd have to say Levrone so far.  but i think Cutler could overshadow him in the long run if he stays in the game a few more years.
