SO what does it say about the "sport" if its inappropriate for kids to look at?

You’re impulse is the correct one.  These days BB mags are softcore pornography and young kids should not have access to them.  Older kids shouldn’t see them either for the same reason.  In addition, they give a very misleading idea of what is involved in building a muscular body.

you've got some issues, Intensone - your constant attack on bodybuilding being a sport screams "past trauma/failed dream"

"Past trauma/failed dream"? I have never considered it a sport...ever. Has nothing to do with what I have or have not accomplished!

bodybuilding magazines are inappropriate bcause they contain scantly clad adults? or because they promote an impossible ideal? or drug use?

so does every other magazine.... everywhere you look there is a half naked guy or girl and some celebrity with a drug problem.....

Oh come on, I used to love wanking over the sweaty visions that were Cory and Anja back in 88 for fucks sake (oh and, lets not even get onto anal in the sauna with Janice Reagan)

Perhaps if we got the mags filled with more hot girls rather than the salami handling, bog snorkeling homos that they are currently filled with, then threads such as these would not be necessary

Nobody wants their kid thinking Daisy Dukes/workboots are proper attire for society.

Don't forget suspenders on those shorts...

As a parent of 2 children (ages 10 & 12) I can honestly say i've never seen them display any interest or have seen them pick up any bb'ing mag i've left lying on a table in my home.In relation to this, how many mainstream mags can a person pick up which will have ads in them for penis enlargement products or soft core porn videos to enhance a person's sex life etc?

What's the difference between a bodybuilder in swimmers to a swimmer in swimmers, besides the muscles? Nothing. If it's "wrong" for your kids to be interested by bodybuilders, even at that age, then I think the problem is not theirs.

As long as it's appropriate to watch for that age (e.g. a G rated movie), then let them watch/see/read. That's my opinion.

Start worrying if the pages of your kid's bodybuilding mag are stuck together.

Unless it's the Muscle Mag girlie section. Not sure if they still do, but they used to have lots of those back in the day. I remember Trish was a nice one.  :P

Oh yeah, and I hate anything MMI, Muscle Tech or Eas because when I was young and stupid I wasted too many bones on their supps...I'm still mad when I think about how poor I was back then. They really scam the kids, I think.  >:(

Adults too waster their money on supplements that don't do what they claim, even members here at getbig are wasting their money with false hope.

Most of them are because they are practically porn magazines.  Instead of focusing on how to train, eat, and on the athletes themselves they have tons of pictures of women in provocative poses.  They also have ads for homosexual videos and other fetish videos.  Bottom line, they are hyper-sexual and that is what makes them inappropriate.

Didn't I just say that?  :)

Anyway, the bottom line is this: if you have to ask if BB mags are inappropriate for little kids you already know the answer.

maybe if someone sees their kids reading or looking at bb mags maybe ask the child...something like

Is there any questions u have?

So what if the victoria secret shows up to the house that people hide their bb mags..do u leave them around or hide them as well..

to me..paying attention to what your kids are doing..

Its mostly the pics in the magazine and cover. The pics portray an extreme over the top reality. Yea a lot of it is risque and some might say it is all risque. The images are just too much to soon for some little kid. Maybe Im being overprotective and old fashioned but it all just seems to intense for kids. How does a kid understand a guy with 23 inch bi's or a girl with huge breasts and 1 percent fat. Will it really screw up their own body image.

as a mother of baby girl..I hope she gets her dads fast metabolism and not my genetic slow one..I think cosmo, vogue. elle and so forth and now those mags have teen vogue and stuff will alter her mind as well...I have to try not to overdue about being thin..(this is a fear of mine)..I truly have to say I fear I'll make her anorexic because thats just how society is..

I would think at that age they'd be interested more with video games, comic books, and Barbie dolls rather than a guy with some huge arms, but what do I know - I have no kids.

Before internet and all the bodybuilding sites, I couldn't wait for the latest Flex or even MM2K, before it went commercial.  Now the only times I get a mag is on a flight.  Even now the info seems like ancient history when you've seen it all on the net.  How many "Blast Your Bi's" story's can you read and only to find out most of them are 6 page adds for a Muscle Tech product.  And the Swim suit and lingerie issues aren't approperate for 12 year olds.
