Anyone had any luck with chiropractors? Thinking about getting chiropractic treatment for a nagging back injury.

Sorry, LOL!

Couldn't help myself. :)

It depends on what type of chiro you see. For simple/mechanical lower back pain chiropractic helps a lot. PT works really great too because it helps the patient be more active in the process.

I saw one because I had pain in my lower back. he took an ex-ray and found that my lower spine was out of wack. After seeing him 3 times a week for about 2 months, my back was fine. I could squat again!!!

Every professional sports team carries a personal chiropractor....NFL, NBA, MLB and so on. If your extremely active, especially powerlifters/bodybuilders, chiropractic care is essential. If you have irreparable damage...no. But a good chiropractor is great for maintenance and overall care. I could not have competed in powerlifting at an elite level for 15 years if I did not use one on a regular/when needed basis. I'm 42 now and my back feels great. If your car gets banged out of alignment, what do you do?......get it aligned. Same with the spine.

The chiropractor I see now is fantastic.
His treatments are far better than the guy I used to see.
Yea, the one now also told me about subluxation/degeneration in my L5, but I don’t think he was trying to soak me.

I lost my job several months prior to my first appointment and there was a period of about a month and half where I had no health coverage.
During this time the Doc said, “Don’t worry about any money.”
I went to his office 2-3 times a week for about 7 weeks and
HE NEVER TOOK A DIME FROM ME!
And he never charged me back payments either!
Now, my current health insurance covers it.

Don’t get me wrong, though.
There are some real scamsters out there.
I was very fortunate.

As far as Chiropractors fixing problems other than back…

The other week I was at the store and turned to put something light in the shopping cart.
Suddenly, I felt as if somebody thrust a needle through the right side of my back and was stabbing a nerve.
I had to stop walking, lean against a shelf and couldn’t take full breaths because even that hurt.
I never experienced anything like this and didn’t know what in the hell I did.
Finally, I slowly and painfully shuffled out to my truck and called my Doc.
Explained everything as best I could.
He told me it sounded like a rib and to come to his office.

According to him, I knocked a rib head off of my thoracic vertebrate. I really didn’t see what he could do for this, but he had me lay face down and pushed it into place. My body must have jumped 3 in. off the table from the sudden jolt of pain.
The nerve was still irritated, but the rib was back where it belonged.
26 hours later it began to feel better, and two days later I was back in the gym for a light workout.
No problems since!
