whatever is playing on the gym system- don't want to sound like a macho mofo, but i dont really need the music to motivate me- i've never worn headphones and when i hit my sets, i could'nt tell what the hell is playing- i just go into some kind of world that phases out everything except my own intensity-

Ditto, but if there's a good song on, that usually motivates me just a little more.

My gym has an open aerobics area so there's always alot of noise and chaos-- and a screaming instructor.

I also don't want to have people who are really there to socialize.. not work hard... constantly walking over and talking to me as I lift and breaking my concentration, so I always wear my IPOD and turn up the volume. I usually listen to some high energy music....with a solid beat---and it varies. More than pumping me up- I find it helps me focus.

Whe I run on the indoor track or treadmill, I listen to Bruce (Born to Run) Springsteen.. naturally LOL

You won't frickin believe this, but my gym plays COUNTRY!! I have bitched and bitched, but cannot get them to understand that people can't work out to country. I ended up having to buy an MP3 player and I swear it increased my reps by 2 or 3!!!!!

Just when you're getting ready for your final set of Squats this comes in the speakers:

My gym sucks when it comes to music.  Mostly its 70's 80's.  Once in a blue moon someone will change it to metal or some good heavy dance club music.  I always have my ipod handy just in case.  Like one day they were playing some good music with a heavy base beat.  I left my ipod in the locker and then some older guy complained and they put it back on classic 70's.  Having a good solid heavy beat just helps my concentration.

Soundtrack of rocky,
especially,
the eye of the tiger ;D

Actually for every period a different type of music,
morning music not to load cause a lot of old people come training,
afternoon mostly dance/trance/(dance) top40 , and once in a while the bartendress(?) (it's a woman) puts on other cd for a chance like the soundtrack of rocky,  R&B, '80 music,
evening there are classes aerobic/taebo, so ussually shitty music with a lot of noise of the instructor.

Sometimes she turns on the radio;

If you care it would be worth requesting different music to management. Maybe they could at least compromise and play what you like at certain times of the day when the seniors aren't around.  ;D
