Can anyone comment on this?

I can, didn't mean to scare anyone. What I meant is that the EKG is not the accurate of a test and if you are a roid user you should seriously have the full stress test. This test can help accuratly detect things like blockages, heartdamage, although only superficially. After that you would need a nuclear stress test, angiogram and then an MRI. But hopefully nobody here will need to do that. I just think people should   that if you have any blood pressure abnormality and your concerned about your heart you should not rely on an EKG alone.

I have average systolic and below average dialostic.  I'll often get readings like 130/54, but it ranges.  I always have a low dialostic and systolic is usually 125 or above.  Dialostic is usually not over 65 and usually in the low sixties or fifties.

Sounds pretty good to me. The diastolic is more important as that is the pressure your heart pumps against when pushing blood into the systemic circulation. If that is consistently high your heart will enlarge to cope and you get problems. I think talking about EKGs and stress tests and angiograms and MRIs for BP of 130/55 is scaremongering and playing to the hyperchondriacs out there. The only thing I would be curious about is if you ever get dizzy spells or anything like that (as they could be a sign of hypotension from your low diastolic).

I did wonder if the heart association reclassified everything so the drug companies can make more money though. My BP got up to 171/104 when I was in my final year of physio, and my Dr kept an eye on it but didn't prescribe any medication. It came down with some weight loss and stress reduction and is between 115/78-130/85 at present. When you take it, take a few readings as well, especially if you get a bit anxious about things.
The jungle of the senses.

If you don't mind my asking, how old are you and how did you incur heart damage?
I dont have any heart damage, just got a scare when I received a false positive on the stress test. False positives are common. So I was really worried and did all the research, but turns out I did not have any blockages. A friend of mine though has a bad heart and he went through all three stages and is now in the MRI stage. Docs say his heart is not pumping at full capacity, but they havnt found a good reason as to why yet.

I have a friend who's an expert in cardiovascular physiology and they say unless the systolic is chronically well above 140 it's not really anything to worry much about under normal circumstances.

its fucking funny when you hear bodybuilders checking their bloodpressure... pointless. Steroids increases blood volume and blood pressure in and of itself. There is nothing you can do about that it's what happens and they wouldn't look as "swole" without it.

so to lower bloodpressure for a bodybuilder is counter effective to their goals.. to get bigger/more swole muscles...

This video explains how your blood pressure reading should be taken and that so many doctors/nurses/tech do it wrong.

A must watch!

I once had a bad bacterial infection, and my BP dropped to 88/55.  While in the hospital I had an awful episode of rigors and it went up to 200/100.

After 2 coffees and an ephedrine tab (12.5 mg) I was at 123/72...

Is this guy even a doctor? They typically put a 24/48 hour monitor on you to wear at home that records BP readings throughout the day and night before diagnosing high BP and giving medication. Most BP checks done in the doctors office are just a loose guide.

110/60.  It hovers around that. When I was 20lbs heavier doing little cardio and only lifting it was around 130/80.

Somebody on the previous page mentions you can extend you life by using statins if you have high cholesterol. All the studies I can find that are not financed by a statin companies shows an average of a modest 2 year of life extension with those that have high cholesterol.  Important but not the panacea I thought it was.

Also some clogged arteries happen with people with low cholesterol. Why and is there some other mechanism at work causing it? Some say HDL to LDL ratio is a key factor instead of total cholesterol. Some say VLDL is what you should pay attention to. One thing I read is that clog heart attacks are an inflammation disease and cardiac inflammation should be measured and could be the most important blood test for heart disease . It's measured with C Reactive protein CRP test.

So it seems heart disease is a combo of a lot of causes. Some are genetics, high blood pressure, triglycerides, high blood sugar, high body weight, inflammation, cholesterol; Lipo protein A, having a heart muscle that's out of shape and all the rest. Bodybuilders forget the heart is a muscle. Since you can't show it off many bodybuilders don't care about cardio exercise. I think it's a mistake. Many guys that do cardio have much slower resting heart rates than guys that don't. It shows the muscle is stronger and doesn't have to work as hard.

I had a conversation through the internet with Casey Viator and he told me his blood work always comes back good. He died shortly after from a heart attack.

He has some good click bait.

When i had high BP the first thing my Doc told me was to buy a blood pressure monitor and track my BP for a week.

Even doing cardio does not really make a difference in lifespan.

There is no scientific backup.

Doing lots of cardio can even shorten your life.

Intense exercise is not a life extender.  It's the opposite since it causes inflammation and stress.

If you enjoy it do it but not for life extension.

A very low heart rate is not an indication of a future long life.  It indicates perhaps stamina/endurance.

Walking seems best.  Low impact.  Low stress.

Avoid the major killers, cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, dementia, diabetes, accidents, etc. and you'll likely live to an old age.
