Seated Heavy Cable Row
« on: August 17, 2006, 11:30:39 AM »
I've since progressed to adding a plate onto the weight stack for this excercise, so I'm going pretty heavy.  Question is, does anyone else get a pain in their pecs when performing the negative portion?  Since it's a close grip, I'm supporting lots of weight before each rep and it's pulling my arms toward eachother and squeezing my pecs like a bitch, and it hurts.  Any comments or any experience with this?

when i used to train back two days after chest i would get that because of the soreness in my chest...i also felt it during heavy deadlifts.

remember you are supporting yourself with every muscle in your body during most exercises.

Makes sense; you're unintenionionally pushing the hands together; not a bad thing since you're getting some chest work in. Changing the grip to overhand might remove that if you want to, though it would also change the effect on the lats.
