Slimming the waistline
« on: August 26, 2006, 04:49:11 AM »
That Art Atwood thread got me thinking. I want to do whatever it takes to keep the waist as small as possible.

What are the best ways of preventing a huge and unreparible waistline? Also, what are the best ways to reduce the size of the waist when looking at it front on? Thanks for any help.

Alright, I wasn't sure about spot reduction. Thing is, how do these pros come in ripped to shreds but have such huge waistlines? Wouldn't they have very low bodyfat all over, thus reducing the waist from side to side?

I hate the bbers with fat waists. they look like shit. I think it is from growth hormone. No one with a fat waist should be able to win a competition, they look fuckin horrible.

I donno man it confuses me. I always thought it was about porportions being right. not a 48" waist,24" arms,19"neck,22"calves thats just coming in all goofed up to bring the "freakiest" package and worst of all thats whats winning! (at the O mind you)

Is it from growth hormone that makes their waists so fat?

It makes the organs actually grow.

Don't use excess weight when doing abs! Muscle grows when stimulated by resistive force, duh. Want bigger abs and a wider waist? This is a sure fire way to do it. Just stick to contractions with bodyweight.

GH makes all muscles grow, including those in the waist area, thus the bigger waists.

Isn't it that genetics define where fat is stored? Well according to what I've read somewhere....
Such that some are predisposed to store fat in the waist... Too bad I hope That isn't my case.

has to do with gender too ii think. women are more prone to store fat in thighs and butt and men its waist.

Watch you diet.  Don't overtrain abs.  If you can't see or feel your abs do some light weight to bring them up. But once you have them train light.

I only do flat/incline/decline to stress the abs, no weights. Is that bad?

Wouldn't using a weight to make it harder be the same as using incline/decline? They both make it harder, so wouldn't they produce the same looking result?

A good deadlift or squat makes your abs do more work than all those crunches together.

I agree-- it's even better than doing the plank for abs---- and you hit lower body/legs  at the same time! ::)
