PDI Night of Champions: Steve Weinberger was there
« on: September 17, 2006, 03:46:40 PM »
I heard a rumor on another board that steve wienberger-or whatever his name is, the head judge over at the IFBB-was at the NOC yesturday.  Reports say that he was yelling at competitors and shoving people around...basically playing the tough guy role.

Can anyone confirm or deny this report.  From everything I've ever read about the guy he seems like the kind of guy that will yell and scream and play that role to get what he wants so I don't doubt it.  Guy seems like an asshole to me but I don't know him personally so I might be wrong.  I'm only making observations about what I've read.  He tried to start a fight with Shawn Ray a few years ago at the Olympia, he yelled at some fans at the NOC a few years ago etc.

Anyway, is thei true or false, the part about him being at the NOC last night and bullying people?

It was a good move for him to be there.

It shows that he doesn't feel threatened by the PDI.  Rather, he probably sees it as an opportunity to grow the sport of bodybuilding over some new national boundaries and make it a more worldwide sport.  Sure, some say he was having some heated exchange with those he considered disloyal for attending, and yeah, some say he was making a lot of threats - but he's a passionate guy.  Those were probbaly just empty threats he was heard making.  heat-of-the-moment type of stuff.  Seeing the sport take on such growth and new excitement for the first time in a long time much have been pretty exciting!

It's good that Steve is embracing the PDI, and I hope others follow his lead.

Cheers!

vince c'mon.  Let's be real for a minute.  Expanding the sport or at least trying to is a noble thing.  You just don't like lee, bottom line.  He did nothing wrong here and in the end he'll probably loose money on this endevor.

Lee did something alot of guys were probably wishing they had the balls to do and I applaud him for it.

Good job, lee.

Anyone else suffocated by the irony of this statement?  If you had even an ounce of shame then you would stop referring to yourself as a bodybuilder and would find another venue to fail miserably at.

Lee has the biggest balls in the IFBB to compete in the PDI.  I think it's a good move.  He's the star of the PDI, has the potential to get more attention and more endorsements.

Yea, and the fact that he was competing against amatuer bodybuilders that thought that they were pro.

Lee Priest deserves no props.  He didn't have any real competition, no Dennis James, or Ronnie Coleman, or Melvin Anthony, or any pro for that matter.  Like I said, its like Michael Jordan playing in a college basketball game.

Vince you are a funny guy, I will give you that. But, we both saw what he looked like when he had the shoulder problem earlier. He bounced back from that like a champ. Congrats Lee, nice to see you didn't miss your carb up  ::)

Vince, you said that Lee would be escorted out of the building.  I spoke with someone invovled with the O on the phone tonight who said that Lee is still a draw, has only irked a few people, and will be one of the most popular guys to meet this O weekend.

Do you still think he'll get kicked out?  It sounds like he's going to be a rock star for the fans.

Lee with all this suspension talk, isn't their supposed to be some kind of hearing on a suspension?  And you can file some sort of grievence or something and the suspension would not happen until all this went down...Wouldn't that take months to happen, so that the olympia wouldn't even be an issue?

Thats true also.  How about that Chic.  In fact it ishis right to file so actuallyLee can compete in this Olympia and the IFBB can do nothing about it.  If they did try to enforce a suspension without any type of formal hearing then Lee could easily take them to court.

so he was pushing and shoving guys around and yelling at people...classic.  What a baby..I can't stand people like that, I'd love it if someone busted him in the mouth for being such a dick.

You can come to Powerhouse Gym in Syosset, NY, and come slap in his face yourself.  Don't look for someone else to do it--be a man and step up to the plate since he is such a dick to you..

I met Steve and his wife once in NYC. my friends and i were visiting, and went to train in his gym. He was cool with us. he offered to take a picture of me and my friends with Bev, shook all our hands. and i swear not two minutes later he was yelling his head off at some dude. i have heard the stories about him so i was a bit apprehensive about meeting him. but he was cool with me...at the time. he definitely looks like he can take care of himself.
