The bottom line is that, aside from Lee, five other guys who wouldn't have made a dime in the IFBB made money last Saturday being bodybuilders.  There is no possible argument against that being a good thing.

Very good point! :)

The IFBB has a life president. There is no way to remove him from his office. Therefore there is no accountability. This is the problem the IFBB has.

Ouch!... ;D

If the bad English doesn't tell enough of his lack of intellect, threatening people with violence in a public forum certainly does. Most the contents of his posts are pretty much verbatim quotes from Joe Pesci's character in "Casino". I'm surprised he hasn't bragged about putting people's heads in vises and squeezing their eyeballs out. Freeman should be more careful about letting his "trainer" use his account IMO - no telling who's reading this board.

I would like to give a little advice to GEKKO on the Aponte subject. I know this guy. He was born and raised a true “BAD ASS”. We grew up in the same area of N.Y. If he reads this I want him to know right now…I HAVE AND WANT NO BEEF WITH YOU TONY! I know better. Gekko, some free advice... Aponte has been fighting since he was 9yrs old. I fully realized it when I saw him knock out the Golden Gloves Fighter in a Prospect Park club at the age of 17. Yeah sure everyone knows he did a Long prison stint many years ago, I would say almost 7 to 8 yrs. But since he’s been legit he moved to California and then the Northwest. He has some real know how in nutrition and develops real estate. He trained Martinez and now Freeman. Aponte is from the east and that’s why he defends the N.P.C. and probably good friends with This Steve Weinberger guy. Bro these east coast dudes stick together, you should know that. He is out of the gang life because he’s 42 or 43 yrs old by now. But if you look at the tattoos on him and notice he is always with a lot Italian dudes. Get a clue Dude. His family lives in Las Vegas and N.Y. and everyone knows his dad was a heavy dude back home in the Longshoremen's union and passed away 3 to 4 yrs ago. His dad left him a huge inheritance and as a hobby helps a bodybuilder now and then, but I know he doesn’t do something for nothing. I also know that if someone starts with him trust me he hits HARD and has a back ground in Kick Fighting. I’ve seen him with my own eyes do some wild sh*t, so if I was you Gekko I would keep my trap shut and not pick a fight. I say there is nothing wrong with a little chit chatter but lets keep it positive and move forward. Be cool, I’m just giving some advice that you should be glad to get in the right situation.

God Bless, peace out.

Romano, you have made a brilliant point here.

I would really like to hear your reaction to this quote:

All true Ron...the voice of reason as usual.

Funny thing is...I'm not so sure that people aren't looking at the bigger picture here.

Is another federation REALLY in the athletes best interest?

Lets consider the fact that there are lass than 30 "names" when you look at the "best of the best"...The tier 1 guys as people like to put it. Much like when we (the NPC) decided to create a SHW class...within a few years, it watered down the heavyweight division, which in turn, made for two mediocre classes as opposed to one strong one....and the depth of the competition has suffered since.

Lets assume for the sake of conversation, that The PDI actually comes to be...and that 1/2 of the top guys decide to compete there...equally divided among talent...Jay in one, Ronnie in another..etc, etc.

Given the fact that IFBB shows don't always pack the house, and the lower purse shows either barely make it, or get nixed....is there enough market to sustain BOTH?

Fans have dictated by their response, that they will suppport the bigger shows with the bigger names competing...they'll pay to see the best there is. What they won't do, is pay to see 1 or 2 great bodybuilders and a bunch of guys that are pretty good, and some they've never heard of.

McMahon thought the world could use another football league, too...had some funky new rules...some jazzy uniforms and cool names for the teams...and some damn good players, not the BEST, but very good by any standards. Same premise...same results. The fans showed little interest and it tanked in record time. Keep in mind, this was done with MILLIONS invested, TV time/ exposure.

The questions remain...are there enough fans out there to support 2 federations?

If there were 2 mediocre federations, would the athletes make MORE money, or quite possibly LESS?

The 25-30 best bodybuilders in the world can only compete in so many shows per year...if they were allowed to compete in both equally, would they compete more often? Could they financially or physically?

Heres some things I have to consider as the Athletes Representative...is it REALLY in the athletes best interests? I have to dig deep and consider ALL relevant issues...not just scratch the surface.

I'm sure they are Miles away from each other but not when they're both at the same competition. I saw a bad situation getting worse so yes I did sign up so I could post my warning. I have no problem with speaking your mind on a forum (after all, that's what I did) but when it becomes personal and threatening there has to be a line drawn in the sand at some point. If these 2 want to go at it that's fine with me, but I speak from personal experience having had my ass kicked by Aponte many years ago, and I grew up in the same neighborhood with the guy. We're friends now but I will never mess with him again. As my screen name implies, I literally bent down to pick up my severed ear off the ground after my tangle with him.

Nuf` said... I'll butt out of this one.

Romano, you have made a brilliant point here.

I would really like to hear your reaction to this quote:

is there enough audience to support both film and TV?  Can an actor in a sit-com go and do a movie and still come back an do TV with out getting fined?  Wayne needs to make the spectacle of the PDI more different than the IFBB.  If his point of difference is wide enough, he will attract the same people that go to IFBB shows because people want to be entertained.

Chick,

this is exactly what you should tell your friend Tamali

You are not built for bodybuilding...and certainly not Pro BB. Go into powerlifting, pro wrestling, or into the circus as a stronman...but don't kid yourself, you have no business on a bodybuilding stage.

I spoke to Steve. George is not telling the truth. Steve did not push anybody nor touch him. Why would Steve push George? It’s a felony in New York to push someone, so go ahead. And Steve said ‘Why would I waste my time with you”.  All Steve did was go to the show, and stayed to himself. Jeez - some of you guys as just too much.

Yea I trust what he would say.  He has numerous times he has started shit at actual NPC and IFBB shows.  Now you are saying "no way he would do that I believe him".  My god Ron, unless you are joking and you know he did it.

that is because the IFBB is not a federation or even an athletic organization, but a privately held company.

Interesting post.

I do not doubt he is tough, but I found it weird he posted a threatening comment to me in another thread, when all I said was why he is using Toney's handle. For one, I hardly think that is some big instigatory comment that I desrved to be threatened for. It was a simple question. Also, since he is so tough and all, I would assume he could pick a more worthy opponent than myself. My massive 5ft 4" 130lb frame is hardly a big challenge to overcome. Granted I once went to a self defence seminar for women, and my nails are pretty long so maybe I could squeeze in a little facial scratch or something, but it would not really take a tough guy to beat me. I would assume most guys could beat me. I might be able to take Chad Mower though :D
