Fast Cadence while working out is the ultimate way to train
« on: September 21, 2006, 05:45:07 PM »
semi light weight to moderate weight but moving it fluidly and fast has really gotten me sore big time the last few workouts. for instance dumbell squats are EXCELLENT before i was using the 100's and got a good pump but i lightend them to the 55's and go faster and for more reps and its KILLER!!

Maybe if looking like a swimmer is your goal. But if you want to look like a powerful, thickly muscled god(like me) you  have to pick up something heavy eventually.

That sounds like a sound plan daddywaddy!

theres numerous ways of muscular failure

heavy ass weight ronnie coleman style

pushing your lactic acid threshold to failure

cardio vascular failure...completley winded or out of breath

most people only do one way and thats heavy. and look horrible

i like to cause failure simultanuesouly from two angles....

cardio failure- out of breath

lactic acid failure- too much burn

the best exersise for this would be compound. pullups, dumbell deadlifts, pushups

Today I tried something different for chest and tris. I went nonstop and did different exercises everysingle set. I did chest for an hour straight with no more than 5-10 seconds of rest in between. But I don't think I really reached true muscle failure. There wasn't a lot of progression apart from a bit of rest pausing. I am going to be really sore tomorrow!
just push some weight!

THis is true.
I studied pros like Jay train. Even on their last set, they use like a weight that gets them relatively high reps- 8 or so..
Also they do use pumping movements, ive been doing this, especially for arms..focus on form, and applying all the tension on the muscle trainied...

DW your doing it again- giving away some stellar points...many people here know this, but if they apply it its another thing- I check my ego at the door when i go to the gym...its paying off..

thats what its alll about, train like this everyday, the gains come slow but they do come! the more different exercises the better...i think we have officially proved overtraining to be the biggest joke in bodybuilding history

Yes I am doing higher volume training now.   I do a lot of drop sets.  I do a heavy set to failure then use half that weight and go to failure again.

Yeah! I try to hit it from every single angle. Gonna keep on training this way and eventually will increase the time in the gym to about 3-4 hours.

so, your boyfriend penetrating you at a moderate pace *nice and slow* has made you sore all over.  And given you a good pump?
I don't usually laugh at such juvenile humor, but this got me good.  ;D

They are fat because they take in more calories than they burn. Obviously if you are into heavy volume you can eat more than a guy who trains HIT.

Yep this is true.  Its important to train in different rep ranges for BB I would say between 5-15 reps  Some sets you should just get 5 and other times you pump to 15.  This trains the different muscle fibers for a complete physique.  "Everybody wants to be a BB but nobody wants to lift no heavy ass weights"

DW,

your new soreness could just be the result of doing something new/different that your muscles arent used to.

i agree that one of the best ways to train is to keep constant tension.  however, you dont have to use light weight and high reps for that.  ronnie is a perfect example of that.

personally, i like to combine both.  i do 4 sets of 5-15 reps.  that way you get both the benefits of the pump and heavy training.  i also found that doing the 1st set of 12-15 with a moderate weight, i can actually go heavier with more feeling on my last set when i try to max at 5-6 reps.  the higher reps provide a nice cusion.  however, if i do all sets of 8-10 reps, i dont feel as deep as a pump or soreness i do if i go extremely heavy on the last set for 6 reps.

lol...do you wear your pink tights when your doing those fast pace dumbell squats?

what the hell kind of gym do u train in?   is there no bodybuilders there that can show you how to train?

dont u understand that  mindlessly doing these endless sets and reps are not going to help you build a physique....bodybuilding training is not an endurance contest...lifting a heavy enough weight, basic movements,  that you can handle for 8-10 reps to failure is how you build a physique.

i assume you are trying to build some muscle right???  ....reping a certain weight 30 time vs reping that same weight 50 times does nothing to stimulate muscle growth...all you are doing is conditioning the muscle to do that high number of reps...that is a fact...you will NEVER grow training like that.

moderate volume training has its place but the type of training you are talking about is a waste of time.

so 8-10 reps is it? then explain why people that do this look like shit because they are not on drugs

i agree.

there needs to be sort of overload (doing more weight or reps).  gaining mass is an adaptive process.  your body will get bigger and stronger the next time to handle that stress and protect itself from injury.

also, you need to tear the fibers to a certain degree for them to regenerate themselves bigger and stronger for the reasons mentioned above.

that aint gonna happen with light weight and fast high reps.

go run a marathon and your legs will be extremely sore the next day, but that doesnt mean you built any muscle.

that could be true...just because they are doing 8-10 reps doesnt mean they are using enough weight, proper form, or going to failure.

most people dont know what failure is because they dont have the heart to train to true failure.

most guys when the weight start to get heavy, they start to fatigue, thats the end of the set....thats not failure.

like arnold said it is sometime those last couple of reps that seperate the champions from everyone else....most people dont want to experience that pain that is need to complete those last few reps.
