he doesnt beat jay in every pose! he has a better mid-section but thats as far as it goes. however he was much improved and shud have been 4th

The guy did look phenomenal this year. With the exception of calves (the normal high insertions), he can go toe to toe with Jay on each bodypart, and nobody would be all that surprised to see it go one way or the other.

Melvin and Vic were the 2 guys on the stage who really made massive improvements and gave it there all this year, all the others looked the same or worse than the year before, although i do think jay deserved the victory i think melvin and vic have laid the foundations for themselves for the future.

Melvin looked good but he needs better quads, calves, lower lats and pecs. He still hasn't reached that "wow" factor yet. Of course, Jay's not Mr. O material either.

jay is bigger and more conditioned than melvin..hope this helps.you just cannot win with a small waist line..jays mid section was decent for his size.jay was the clear cut winner

OVERALL Jay is better modern era bodybuilder, but Melvin is VERY impressive, no doubt. great pics and VERY refreshing to see so may threads that debate the merits of the top Olympian physiques, rather than azz clownery. Great pics, thanks.

Okay, Jay wins on calves, but Mel wins on back...he has no wrinkly loose skin..he has a complete back. Mel is more than impressive...I say a man who graduate from a Bible College, in great shape, would be exactly what the IFBB needs to take the mainstream, because nobody in the mainstream expects that.

OVERALL thickness in the back , hams and calfs have Jay ahead by a mile. Melvin has the edge on overall , nice shape and asthetics, but Jay still is better overall, when you look at all apscts of a physique.
As for the "bible school grad " plus. Ok, if he was trying for the republican nomination for congress and wanted the Bush bunch to support him , well yeah, , but for bodybuilding, NO.
