2006 O
« on: October 01, 2006, 08:56:04 AM »
a gift was given yesterday night to jason cutler; a gift from a 50% ron coleman. ron coleman was not on stage. he wasnt on stage on friday either.

the IFBB is not at fault here,, they gave the title to a hard worker and a good guy that prove that even with  average genetics you can achieve your goals as long as you work smart and keep drug intake consistant.

jason cutler looked HORRIBLE but he was conditioned and 90-100% on spot (with wider than ever torso that included improved lats/wider waist and ofcourse no arms). ron coleman was no where to be found.

if ron coleman ever decide to show up in vegas and prepare accordingly,,he will win his 9th and 10th titles,,,wether its at 44 or 45 it wont matter. he is in a leage  of his own.

2006 and 1976 are the worst years ever for bodybuiding but! sometimes you just gotta appriciate hard work and dedication.

congrats cutler. a win is a win.

No, he is correct.  Jay did not beat a 100% Coleman; he beat a Coleman with half a back, no left tricep and horrible legs and glutes (which is saying something since he had some of the best wheels ever).  Jay worked like hell and deserved to beat Coleman.  Too bad that he looked worse than both Dex and Vic.  Regardless, Vic will ascend to the throne in time as he is the first person since pre-bloat Colema with everything.  Coleman needs to hang up them trunks as I do not feel he has the drive or physical ability to overcome his injuries.  Game is on for 2007.

Hulkster made a post already asking if it would be fair if Ronnie did not lose.

I don't think this surprises anybody in terms of physique quality - but I am shocked that as far as IFBB politics go Ronnie would lose.  How did that happen?  Even if a current Mr. Olympia DESERVES to lose - he won't.  So again, how did this happen?  ???

I'm not debating that the decision was unfair per say.  In 1998 or 2003 I would have had every problem with somebody other than Ronnie winning and a lot of other years have been debatable, and this is one of those years.  But it is simple history that a current Mr. Olympia will win even IF it is debatable.

MattC,
I think the IFBB new, that if Ronnie wasnt dominating Jay this year, if there was any sign of REGRESSION of ROnnies physique, they already knew they were going to have a new mrO....if they would of screwed Jay over this year, while obviously looking better, SHIT would of HIT the fan. Competitors wouldnt bother anymore as they would feel it is truly a popularity contest....Braveo to the judging panel of the IFBB for showing some NUTS.

What if Arnold came back to compete? What if Haney was still competing when Dorian took it. I'm sure a 100% Jay Vs. a 100% Ronnie would still have Ronnie winning.
You can't say anything of this.
Ronnie showed up less 100%. Jay showed up better. Due to the politics in the sport, Jay was the next in line, and he waited it out till Ronnie showed up below par.
Jay won over Ronnie. No need to say it was only because Ronnie wasn't 100%. That doesn't matter, it just matters that Jay was better than Ronnie last night. Fair and square in the land of Jay and Ronnie. Ronnie knew it.

Its a very shallow victory for Jay,the crown could have went either way.
Jay barely beat the worst Ronnie ever and he knows that.

They both should quit now and carry on with their lives, this is starting to take a heavy price on them both.

Ronnie looks so worn down. He looked like he was trying to parlay everything last night for something unattainable for him for once.

i agree that ronnie was off and that he will return next year to take back his crown...there is nothing anyone can do about that because ronnie at his best is in a league of his own...we will see him dominate the field next year.

however to make a comment that jay looked horrible and that he only has average genitics is just plain stupid.

I'm not sure there's a guy anywhere on the planet deserving of the Mr. Olympia crown right now, at least not the way we used to perceive the winners.  I love the way it played out last night, don't get me wrong...and gh15, that was an excellent post, as always.  You know your shit.  I'm just saying that I think Ronnie was kinda over it and Jay really did ALL he could to get in that condition...but I mean look at those pictures of Dorian guys posted this morning.  Look at pictures of Coleman the first few years he was winning it.  No one's dominating right now and it's clear now that the GH/insulin stuff is really taking it's toll on everyone.  Who here thinks that Jay's at the beginning of a 5+ year run here?  Nobody, hell this looked alot more like a swansong to me.  I don't even think the more aesthetic guys in the show last night were aesthetic by our old standards.  Gustavo's now ruined...I didn't see anything special in Dexter last night...Victor Martinez only looked good because he was put next to those other guys...he'll never look as good as he once did at the 2002 NOC, and I think Melvin really looked the most aesthetically pleasing last night but I can't see him getting any better in the future.  It's as though after the gh-blown guys actually get dry enough to still look good they only go downhill after that.  The kidneys take such a beating.  Remember the last time Flex Wheeler looked good at the Arnold (I think it was 2003?), when Chad FORCED him to look good one more time even after he'd done enough GH to have to get braces?  It was all downhill after that.  We never saw his hams or glutes again because his kidneys had been permanently damaged.  I bet Melvin had to get dry as hell to look like that last night.  I could be wrong, but ask Melvin how extreme his diuretic stuff was last night and I'll bet he'll tell you he felt like he was really playing with fire this time.

You are absolutely right. So many of todays pros just always look "tired". It's like gh use has a bell curve and once you've crossed over the top of the bell you're never able to get your body back to the way it was at the top of the curve. Gus is the perfect example. No matter how hard he'll try he will never get back to the way he looked a couple of years ago. Dex is crossing over to the other side of the curve right before our eyes. Melvin is right on top of the curve and I guarantee you right now Chad is telling him "just 10 more pounds Melvin, give me 10 more pounds" It's sad to watch what's happening to a lot of these guys, espicially when the IFBB keeps telling us they are going to fix it with the new mandate.

Exactly gh15 is a fruad. Any pro would have called it like all the other pros there. Or at least close.subjectivley.... Even pro Ronnie guys do not hate that hard. Jay won fair and square. Gh is some gimmick or person in the know posing as a pro. If he is in fact a pro he is prob some 3rd tier nobody that couldent hold Cutlers jock.

this is how the physique of a mr. olympia should look like...

Yes, those 2 were probably the 2 most pleasing-to-the-eye physiques in the lineup.  But it's still hard to put them next to Ronnie or Jay and feel as though they were cheated.  The Olympia isn't so much a showcase for perfection as it is a contest to see who shows up the most "extreme."  It's that "holy shit" factor that's most rewarded in a bodybuilding show and you just can't discount the effect the extreme has on perception.  Who would you rather look like, or who should have won?  Two different answers entirely if you ask me and it's hard to make sense of that.  A bit of a paradox.

Very good way of putting it!  Seriously I could see where they'd both be best served by retiring now...or at least Jay after one more year of having fun with the title.

Maybe Ronnie can get pissed off enough to just destroy Jay in a couple of the Grand Prix shows and then just let all this go.

If you're all about male ass, I understand why you think so. And I respect you guys.

The rest of us, the heterosexuals, may have a different opinion.
