You can use a feature in MassLynx with your Quadrupole to select only certain ionized states of a molecule. You can also use a TOF system to isolate other certain molecules for MS analysis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrupole_mass_analyzer
Alternatively you can use column chromatography to separate out all sorts of different things. A calorimeter won't do anything for you though. It's just a small container filled with water or some kind of gas you use to measure how much heat burning a compound gives off. Hell, you can even use a styrofoam cup.

very easy...they do it on Dexter's lab on cartoon planet all of the time. Can't be that difficult if a cartoon character can do it
